Erin is Still Sick

There are plenty of things I was suppose to share with you but they got buried in my memory. One of those is the unfortunate event that happened to Erin, my Samsung Point-and-Shoot camera. To cut the story short, her LCD seems to be broken after hubby brought her along in the annual Tour de Fireflies last April. I only see black and white color in her screen.

Since I was busy with a lot of things, I have not brought her for a check up. Hopefully in the coming weeks. Hubby said he will pay for the charges since he was the one who broke it. If it is too pricey, he’ll just buy me another one.

So now, I am checking various camera manufacturers to have an idea of what I will ask as replacement in any case that we will just opt for a new one. I was surprised to learn that Nikon does not only sell cameras, Nikon binoculars are also part of their catalogue! Am I the only person who does not know that? Gosh I feel like an alien!

Anyway, we really do not know yet what will happen since Erin still needs to be checked. But for sure, I still want my own compact camera because hubby’s SLR is hard to carry all the time. If we ever go for a replacement, I will probably ask for something with dual LCD! Wahahaha!

Reminiscing My Sporty Days

When I was still single and only have myself to mind, I would proudly call myself a sporty person. Back in my elementary and high school days, I play track and field and volleyball. Track and field is my first love.

When intramural is near or when there is an inter-school competition, there are days when I train from one sport to another. I am no part of the varsity team but I enjoyed playing these sports, thus my big thighs. 😀

I remember, after practicing two sports in a day, I would wake up at night crying because of leg cramps. My brother who is an occupational therapy student then would teach me what to do. There was also one occasion when I hurt my ankle. Good thing it was not serious.

How I wish I could do some sports again. Maybe when I get the hang of being a stay-at-home-mom already.

Parents Orientation

Last Saturday, we attended the pre-school parents’ orientation at Divine Grace Child Development Center where we enrolled Ayex as Kinder 1. We chose this over the other school because they are offering Chinese lessons in all levels and we think of that as an advantage.

It was my first ever parents’ orientation and I am glad to know that the I share the same sentiments as the school. What exactly do I mean?

Initially, I thought of homeschooling Ayex because I want to control her lessons to the basics. When I hear parents rave about their children being thought very advanced subjects in pre-school, it does not amaze me. Instead, I kind of pity the kids because I know they are stressed out from the heavy school work they do. My homeschooling project did not push through so we had to look for a school that offers a balanced curriculum.

And we are glad that we found Divine Grace. They believe that children should be left as children. They believe that preparatory school is not about academics because they will take that in the formal schooling which starts at grade 1. They believe that preparatory school is about preparing a child to take on the challenges of formal schooling by developing their values.

I am truly glad that I heard what I want to hear during the orientation. In a week’s time, Ayex will be going to school already. I hope everything will turn out fine, specially her bad sleeping habits.
