Commuter Experience

Like I said before, I’ve been commuting for-how-long-i-can’t-remember. No, I am not complaining. This is one of those experiences that kept me thinking. Even now. Smilies

I can’t remember when this exactly happened but I’m sure it did. Let me give you a background first. I live in Proj 8, QC. The most convenient/practical way for me to go home from Eastwood is (1)Take a jeepney going to Cubao. (2)Get off in Puregold and walk going to Farmers Plaza. (3)Ride an ordinary bus bound to Novaliches. There are two kinds of buses that we usually encounter: (1)Slow and bakaw and (2)Fast and madiskarte. Of course, I prefer the second one but when I don’t have so much choice (like when I’m in a hurry), I take what’s available.

So going back. A mother and her son who is about 10 years old sit in front of me. In front of them sat another boy who is about 8 years old who I assumed is her son too. The bus is almost full but the driver kept on picking up passengers. When we reached Q-Mart, 4 people went aboard: a mother, her son, her sister and her mother. The conductor (fare collector) then shouted “Yung bata ho pakikalong na lang. Immediately after that, the first mother asked her son beside her to sit in her lap and called the other boy in front of them. That boy sat in her lap too. The second mother sat beside her and told her son to sit in front of her. Are you following so far? Yes, the second mother and her son took the seats the first mother’s sons left.

After a while, the second mother asked her son to stand up. I didn’t know why. I can’t understand why. I saw her son frowned and questioned her. I heard her say “Kasi walang magbabantay sa iyo dun“. The boy was just in front of her right? The second mother’s sister and mother were seated a few seats at the back of them. She told her sister “Patayuin mo nga ito dyan“. The boy then walked towards her tita and stood in front of her. There are other people standing in between them. After some time, the boy went back to his mother, still standing. I think he wants to check if his school bag, which his mother is holding, is ok. The seat in front of the second mother is still vacant. The boy remained standing until we reached Munoz. The first mother still has her two boys in her lap.

Now I’m thinking. The first mother may have no extra money to pay for his sons’ fare thus she let both of them sat in her lap. I don’t know what was wrong in the seat in front of them that the second mother let her son to stand up like an old man. I think again. Do mothers really do these to their children?Smilies

Rants

Current Feeling: Bad Mood.

Disclaimer: The following post is due to my recent frustrations about life in general. Ok, let me correct that – a working mom’s life and a concerned wife’s life.

  • My husband was diagnosed to have German Measles Monday last week. He stayed in the other room and did all things he need to do there – eat, sleep, work occasionally, pee, etc. He only leaves the room to brush his teeth and use the toilet. Last Friday, he finally had the chance to take a bath. Most of the red spots are now black and some were gone. It was somewhat safe to say that he’s already ok.

However, they say that German Measles is most contagious a week after the rashes appeared. It has been 5 days since the rashes disappeared. I’ve been telling my hubby to see a Dr since they are the ones who said he has this viral infection and they can also say if he’s already cleared. But he’s so insistent that he’s check up will be on the 23rd. So be it!

Let him play with Ayex from afar. Let him stay in the other room for as long as he likes. Let all other people in the house suffer when Ayex starts her temper tantrums because her daddy played with her for a while and suddenly left her!

  • It has been raining here in Manila since Wednesday last week. And since my hubby has been sick, I’m back to being a commuter. Don’t get me wrong. I love commuting. But like others, I definitely dislike standing for 30 minutes waiting for a jeepney, standing in a bus while being pushed by others because I don’t have so much choice and most of all being stuck in the traffic for almost 2 hours!
  • We introduced Ayex to Marie biscuits and Chayote last Sunday. When Monday came, I saw some red spots in Ayex’s chest which looked like rashes. We immediately stopped feeding her with Chayote and sticked with Marie – thinking that it will not cause her body any allergic reactions. When I went home last night, to my horror, I saw more of the rashes. This time, around her mouth! Even if I become a full-time mom, I know I will not be able to prevent Ayex from being this sensitive. Like good looks and other good traits, allergies can also be inherited. Smilies
  • Last in this list of rants is the new u-turn slots along Libis. Before, there were like four u-turn slots along Libis, before you reach Marikina and Pasig. Now, there are only two! For those of you who is familiar with Eastwood, you have to take the u-turn slot under the flyover near IPI (going to C5) before you reach Eastwood. I warn you, it may take you 30 minutes to an hour before you reach it because of the heavy traffic caused by this new change implemented by of course, none other than our wise MMDAs!!! Smilies

Sentiments of a working mom

I’ve been wanting to post this yesterday. However, I went on leave due to the heavy rain and I’m not sure if I still have a remaining ISP card at home. So here it is…

We just arrived from the office Tuesday evening. Ayex was drinking milk while Papa Bert and Mama Ledy oversee her. I went to the kitchen area to put my breast pump in the sterilizer. Riza, our helper is washing some dishes.

Me: Kamusta naman si Ayex, day?
Riza: Mabuti naman po. Gustong gusto po niya kumain kanina. Para po siyang sabik sa pagkain. Kinukuha pa nga po niya ung kutsara. Tatlo po kami nagpakain sa kanya. Si ate (Mama Ledy) naghawak sa kanya. Si mama mo (Mama Fe) nagpakain sa kanya kasi kinukuha niya ung kainan niya. Tapos gusto po niya subo ng subo. Nagagalit po siya kapag matagal magsubo.
Me: (happy but sad) Ah talaga! Bukas uli kakain siya.
Me: (at Ayex) Di na lang magtatrabaho si Mommy. Papakainin ka na lang. Hahaha!

This is just one of my regrets on being a working mom. Oh well, I don’t have so much choice right now. But given a chance, I’ll just put up an online/physical boutique so I can watch Ayex grow. She’s now 7-months old.

Hi there! I'm Nicquee and this is my little space in this world wide web. I'm a mom of two and is happily married. I started this blog as literally my online journal where I dump my emotions. Over the years, I realized that there is more to write about. Feel free to browse through and I hope you find a thing or two that is relatable to you. If that happens, give me a shout-out!
