I did it!

After days of agonizing and searching the world wide web for the perfect tool to recover the lost pictures I told you about in the earlier post, I finally found one!

Since Monday, I’ve been trying all my luck searching for a freeware to recover the precious pictures we lost. The reason why I feel so bad about it is that, these pictures are those taken since Christmas until Ayex’s 2nd birthday celebration. Imagine, we didn’t have a trace of Ayex’s birthday! How sad could that be?

I tried using the ever reliable restoration.exe file. This is the utility that I use whenever I accidentally deleted something using Shift+Delete then after doing so, I would realize that I still need that file. It was able to show me the files that we deleted from the memory card using the digital camera, but it was not able to restore those lost pictures due to quick format.

After failing on my first attempt, I started thinking about purchasing those expensive and “legitimate” file recovery tools. Some applications offer a preview of the file you’re looking for. If you found the file you need, you then purchase a license for you to be able to restore that file. I was told Mon about it. It seems to me that he’s not that affected. I’m probably too sentimental. Anyways, I was so close to downloading one of those tools. I thought that when it worked, I’ll ask hubby to pay for the license so I can recover all our lost pictures when today, a miracle happened!

I googled some keywords and it returned several web pages that contained a list of file recovery tools. One web page I opened list several freeware. I was having a hard time selecting which to view. After reading the snippet for PC Inspector, I gave it a shot and downloaded the file. I installed it and tried my luck once more. During the recovery process, I can see in its dialogue box that it found some files already! As the number of found files increase, my heart’s thumping increased as well. I feel so overwhelmed just by seeing that the tool is finding more files in our memory card than restoration.exe. When it finally stopped, it found nearly 200 files. I started recovering the files one by one even if there is an option for multiple recovery just to be sure I’m not wasting time my time on rubbish.

I checked every recovered file as soon as PC Inspector is finished recovering it. I was disappointed to see the first few files as black or maroon colored pictures only. I tried again. In one of the dialogue boxes that opens, there was an option that should be selected if the files were lost due to quick formatting. After selecting the right settings, I began to see clear pictures. Hoooooooray!

Recovering all the almost 200 pictures sure took some time specially when the tool had to rescan because it encountered an access violation error. But you know, seeing the pictures back again and safe definitely wipes out all the frustration and agony I had. I was not able to recover the videos we had but at least, I have all the pictures!

Thank you so much PC Inspector! I’ll definitely tell my friends and family about you!

I am Mommy

When Ayex started to utter real words, I was kind of envious to Mon because Ayex can clearly say dada. Aside from being able to say it properly, Ayex also knows that that term pertains to her dad. As days goes by, her vocabulary increases. Soon, she was able to say mama. But she does not associate that term to me who is her mother.

Unfortunately, babies can say mama easier than mommy. Not knowing this, we have always thought Ayex that mama pertains to her Lolas (grandmothers). I know what you are thinking. You are right, when Ayex calls out to mama, she is pertaining to her Lolas, whoever is present at that moment.

Although she knows that I am her mother, she does not associate me with other terms except for dede, which means she is hungry and needs to breastfeed. She would cry when she wakes up and I’m no longer beside her. When I am home, she clings to me as if there is no one else at home except the two of us. I know that she knows that I am her mother, but there is a pang of envy when she calls other people appropriately, except for me. There were nights when I would tell her to ask dada to feed her since she can only say dada and dede. The feeling became worse when Ayex learned how to say lolo, lola, and nanay. When she says lola, I know that she pertains to my MIL since I am not her grandmother. I was near depression (I’m just exaggerating) when I heard her say nanay for the first time and my MIL responded to her. She was able to associate nanay to my MIL because that is what Mon and I call her. Ayex probably imitated us. The pang of envy became real and there would be night when I refuse to play with Ayex because I just feel bad.

I know it is not Ayex’s fault. She does not even understand how important it is to be called appropriately. Mon even tried to correct things by explaining to Ayex one time she said nanay and mama one after the other. He tried to correct Ayex’s association in front of MIL and FIL, which almost started an argument. I, on the other hand, decided to go to our room and prepare for bedtime.

Last Sunday, I decided to have some time apart from Ayex and Mon. I met my best friend when I was in fifth grade at the nearby mall. When we got home, my mom narrated what Ayex did when I left. Ayex pulled my mom for a walk outside. She walked here and there while saying MOMMY in a sort of crying way.

Monday, while Mon and I are having dinner, Ayex was playing peek-a-boo with us. She held the curtain near the dining area and hid herself behind. Mon said, “Mommy nasan daw si Ayex?” (Mommy where is Ayex?). After that, Ayex said in a prolonged manner, “MAMMEEEEEE”. When I responded “it—- ba!”, she showed herself to us. Finally… Now, when she asks for milk, she says, “MAMMEEEEEE, dede”.

Stressed over a lump

I’ve been meaning to write about this since yesterday but I feel so stressed about it that I can’t think of the right words to type. Hays!

The other night, while we were playing with Ayex who refuse to sleep, I checked my head out of nowhere. I noticed that the little something in my head got bigger. I told Mon to check it as well and he confirmed that it is bigger than before. Ok, I didn’t know what it was until I went to a derma yesterday. It’s been there since when I don’t remember. It used to be small and when I remember it’s there, I check if its size is changing. Ok, I sometimes try to prick it with my finger nails. The derma said it’s a cyst.

The derma said I probably had a pimple in my head before that I was not aware of. The pimple probably burst inside my scalp. My scalp created this cyst to prevent the contents of the pimple from spreading somewhere else that may cause infection etc. I don’t completely understand it. All I know now it that I have a benign cyst (as per the surgeon I saw today) in my head.

Although it is benign, the derma said it can be removed through surgery. The surgeon shall make a little incision in my head to remove the cyst. Both surgeon and derma talked about 3-4 stitches. The surgeon told me that it would be bloodier than usual because its in my head as it normally shows up in the arms. The surgeon further said that my hair would be shaved to sterile the area. The whole thing, the picture of it just freaks me out! The little lump is not causing me any pain but it does bother me that it was bigger than before.

Mon told me that we should see another doctor. I think so too. But what if they say the same thing?
