No Helper Chronicles: Night 2

And I thought I will be blogging only nice things about our day, but Ayex did it again.

I woke up at 8 AM. I was still sleepy but I told myself I needed to get up. Ayex was already awake too so we left our room. I fed her with breakfast as we play wackle turn. Ayex and I are already finish with our breakfast when Maxyn woke up. After an hour, hubby woke up too.

It was a breeze taking care of the girls. We bathe them one after the other as we needed hot water for Maxyn. Then hubby put Maxyn to sleep in her hammock. While he does that, I cleaned up all the unused milk bottles and the sterilizer and Ayex played with her art studio.

After we had lunch, Maxyn woke up. Before we know it, it was already time for Ayex’s school. Maxyn did not want to them leave and kept of clinging on to hubby. When they stepped out, she also did and even went outside of the gate! Funny scene!

No Helper Chronicles: Night 1

I was feeding Maxyn just a few minutes ago when I thought of this. This is the first time that we are helper-less and I am home, full-time. So maybe I should put it into writing as a remembrance. I hope I can keep up with this as we all know that managing a home can be really draining at times.

So here we go.

At first, Ate Meriam wanted to leave while Maxyn is taking her afternoon nap and Ayex is at school. I said I do not like that. I told her she should say goodbye to the girls properly so they know. She did not approve it because she knew Ayex will be crying. I knew that but I have to let Ayex experience pain, frustration and separation too, right?

So Ate Meriam fetched Ayex from school. The school is a 10-minute walk from our home. It took them almost an hour. I knew they had a little bonding moment. When they arrived, Ayex showed me what they did at school plus the candies Lola Meriam promised her. Then I told Ate Yam to better get going as it is already getting dark. We accompanied her to the village’s gate where Ayex kept waving goodbye. Maxyn, she does not fully understand yet what is happening. I am thankful for that.

D Day…

…As in departure day.

Today, Ate Meriam will leave for a two-month vacation. She has been with us since April of last year. Actually, that is already her second term. We got her October of 2007, then she left in 2009 then she returned last year.

She is really good in taking care of us, specially my two girls when I am at work. And while it is hard not to have her around, I cannot deprive her of seeing her own children and grandchildren. Anyway, she will back by September, before we hit the white sands of Boracay.

Meanwhile, I have talked to our laundry/iron woman if she could help us as a stay-out helper. She already agreed but now, I am having second thoughts. Tatay is always with us here at home and so is Nanay. I think we can do all the chores ourselves, besides, nobody else can take care of Maxyn except me or Mond.

To our Lola Meriam, have a safe trip and we will miss you!

The Good Helper
