Aveneto Pizzeria Ristorante is Love

Last Friday after lunch, I suddenly felt craving for pizza. By 3PM, I received 2 dozens of assorted Krispy Kreme donuts from the boss. The donuts were the price of the betting game we both entered into last December during our Kris Kringle. So I had 24 pieces of yummy and sweet Krispy Kreme donuts. Of course I shared it to the team. We are 18 in the group. I already reserved 2 more pieces for my take home to the little girl since I was quite sure that the team will be able to finish the whole batch.

I was wrong. Many are into a diet after the holidays and are trying to shed out the weight they gained. And so I was left with 9 more donuts to take home (including the two that I initially reserved.

When I got home, MIL said she wanted pizza. This time, my pizza craving is back. Apart from pizza, she also likes some ice cream. I’m OK with just the first one. I am already willing to order pizza but the ginataang kalabasa with fried tinapa were calling on me. I can’t resist them! We end up just buying the ice cream for MIL and everyone else.

Saturday came. We head to Medical Center Parañaque from Quezon City. We are to see Dra. Oblepias, a dermatologist, because Ayex’s bite marks are still a bit reddish and itchy after 3 weeks. After that, I will see Dr. Oblepias, my ob-gyne, for my monthly check-up. We arrived at the hospital before 12PM and were listed to the derma at 11:49AM. She has so many patients that we were entertained at around 3:30PM! What a waiting time! Not too long, my OB came and after 20 minutes, we are on our way out of the hospital.

I’m still craving for pizza. We’ll pass by BF Parañaque going to Las Piñas so I asked hubby if we can stop by Aveneto. He obliged and I’m grateful he did. We end up bringing home the following, to be shared with everyone else at home.

Aveneto Meatballs Parmigiana

This Meatballs Parmigiana has 2 giant meatballs and serves up to 3 people.

Aveneto Nut Pesto with Chicken

Hubby was the one who ordered this. He’s tired of red and white sauce so this is for a change. Both the pasta and chicken are delicious, he almost finished everything by himself. This can also serve up to 3 people.

Aveneto Seafood and Special Pizza in One

I’m happy that they allow two flavors of pizza in one just like in Yellow Cab. I really like shrimp and veggies so I ordered Shrimp Pizza and Special Pizza in medium size. All Aveneto Pizza usually come in monster slices. The medium size usually comes in 6 slices, unless instructed otherwise. (If you are a frequenter of Aveneto, you know what I mean with the slices). Since the slices are too big, I cut each into two making 12 slices in all. The pizza was enough for 6 people.

I also ordered cheddar cheese balls for the little girl, which I forgot to take a picture of. She initially didn’t want to eat it but when I forced her to taste it (since I know she’ll like it), she didn’t stop eating them. She almost finished the 10 pieces by herself.

Aveneto never fails to satisfy me. Fast service with good food and reasonable price, what else can I ask for?

Everything at Steak

This is where me and my teammates had an adventure lunch last December. We’ve been planning about it for months and I’m glad we were able to go there finally.

Luckily, we left our office in Eastwood at around 11AM. It gave us enough travel time to reach P. Guevarra – enough for us to have a parking area and enough for us to be seated and have ordered before the lunch crowd came. The place is not so big but is pretty popular so people from various places visit them for lunch or dinner and it can get pretty crowded.

According to Mark, they had a price increase. We thought it could be due to the renovation the place recently undergone. But while we were ordering, Mark realized it’s because of the additional side dish they’re now offering. The price is still very reasonable.

If I remember it correctly, almost all of us, except Dianne, ordered T-Bone steak. She ordered fish. The steak comes with rice, your choice of gravy plus a side dish (which can be another rice if you want). In my case, I opted for the original recipe gravy and mac and cheese as the side dish.

The service is fast, the serving is huge and the food is very tasty. I love everything except for my mac and cheese. I think the put too much cream on it and less cheese. My instant mac and cheese tastes far better. They cooked the T-Bone really well but remains juicy. They gravy adds to the beef’s tastiness that I ended up using Liana’s gravy as I finished mine already.

It was definitely a delicious steak adventure without spending big bucks. A big plus for someone who is not a steak fan like me. We only spent PhP195 each for our happy lunch.

I hope to bring my dad to that place this year. He loves steaks and I’m sure, he’ll like it there.

The Lay Bare Experience

How many of you ladies pluck or shave those unwanted hair? To tell you honestly, I used to do both, alternately, until I discovered the joy of waxing and threading.

I’ve always wanted to switch to waxing even earlier than 4 months ago. However, my reservations and apprehensions kept on stopping me. Until one time, out of the blue, I finally decided to visit the waxing salon near our place. I was a complete noob at that time. I don’t have a single idea of the process, of the nitty-gritty, but the coziness of the place and warmth of the people made me feel so at ease.

Yes, that is how it is at Lay Bare Waxing Salon. They almost rejected me when I first visited because the length of the UA hair is not the prescribed yet. That means it would be harder to remove it by waxing. Why you may ask. That is because their waxing process is different from those cosmetic based. The waxing process that I knew using cosmetics includes: application of a cream on the area, wait, and then remove the cream using a spatula. When you remove the cream, the hair are also removed. While at Lay Bare, an attendant uses an organic wax (they said it is made of sugar and something else) to remove the hair. Since not all the hair are removed through waxing (read: not all hair have the same length as they grow), they do supplemental plucking as needed.

They said in their FAQ that any form of hair removal may cause ingrown hair but now I think, using cosmetic wax is as prone as shaving as it does not remove the hair from the root. Correct me if I’m wrong. Also, I think that even if they do supplemental plucking, that’s still better than doing the plucking yourself as there is less chances of you plucking your skin than the hair.

So that is how they do it at Lay Bare. When I’m there for a session, I only stay for 15 minutes, 30 minutes max if I also available eyebrow threading. The process is really fast compared to a whole hour I spend on removing my UA hair by myself through plucking. I don’t also get a sore thumb and stiff neck because at Lay Bare, they have beds where you lay down for the process. The comfort does not end there are their fees are very reasonable.

Curious? Here is their current pricing.

I’m so glad I ditched plucking and shaving. How about you, do you want to say goodbye to your shaver and tweezers as well?
