DIY: Rubber Shoes Makeover

Even before SY 2011-2012 ended, Alex was already complaining about her white strap-in rubber shoes. She said the fit is already tight. So we shifted to her black laced rubber shoes.

A few weeks ago, we went to the mall with the goal of buying her a new pair of rubber shoes. It was a huge success! We bought a high-cut pair with a design that she loves.

Then came SY 2012-2013. She enrolled in a new school. And this new school does not allow laced rubber shoes. The reason behind is that sometimes pre-schoolers play games that make them remove their shoes. If they are using a laced rubber shoes, it will take a lot of time to wear them again. Makes sense.

Alex has a pair of tight-fitting strap-in rubber shoes and two pairs of laced rubber shoes. It is simply impractical to buy another rubber shoes for the school. So we agreed that we will DIY the old black rubber shoes to make it lace-free.

This is the finished product.

We are looking for other materials like gems and stones to glam it more.

New Ballet School Year is Coming

I just received a text message from Alex’s ballet school. The new school year for ballet is coming. Hubby and I have already decided that Alex will not yet go back. We will let her adjust first to her new big school, her schedule, her load. I will have do go through a lot of adjustments too since I am the one looking after her and Maxyn.

Actually, other than ballet, we are thinking of encouraging Alex to enroll in music class. We want her to learn an instrument or two. It might be expensive but we will never know she has a talent if we do not let her try right? Personally, I am interested in violin or saxophone. These are unusual instruments here in our country and I think they are very classy. No worries if we will have to buy berg larsen tenor mouthpiece in the future, as long as she is into it.

In due time, I will ask her what performing arts and music she likes best.

Proud To Be Raised Well

Today, Max and I rode the MRT. It sucks that “there is no courtesy lane for people with children, just for senior citizens” when buying tickets. Thanks to a knowledgeable guard and a considerate man who let this mom with a two-year-old in a sling buy ticket without having to go through the long line.

As expected, there were plenty of people waiting for the train already. Max and I went to the first cab. IN this cab, pregnant women, senior citizens and people with children should be given priority. Unfortunately, people these days no longer recognize that. I was prepared though to stand during the whole ride, about 30 minutes, until we reach the final station. No one offered their seat to us but after three stations, we were able to seat. I feel very sad that people these days seem to have forgotten their values. Maybe they just grew up and they WERE NOT RAISED.

Thanks to my parents for raising me and my siblings well. And I promise to them, I will not trade my values for anything. That is what I said to myself when I saw this on Facebook a couple of nights ago.

Oh, before I can forget, let me just say, BABY-WEARING ROCKS! Commuting with a baby is easy-peasy with the help of slings. Wish I have a picture of Max and I standing in midst of the crowd in the train.

Hi there! I'm Nicquee and this is my little space in this world wide web. I'm a mom of two and is happily married. I started this blog as literally my online journal where I dump my emotions. Over the years, I realized that there is more to write about. Feel free to browse through and I hope you find a thing or two that is relatable to you. If that happens, give me a shout-out!
