NDCC Suspends Metro Manila Classes Tomorrow

After the non-stop rain Ondoy brought yesterday to Metro Manila and nearby provinces, many Filipinos were left homeless and are currently sheltered in different evacuation centers like schools.

Because of this, NDCC suspended the classes in Elementary and High school level tomorrow, September 28, 2009. Read here for the full story.

I just like to share my personal view on the efforts being made at this time for our fellow Filipinos affected by the wrath of Ondoy.

I watched the ABS-CBN Teleton about typhoon Ondoy since 8AM this morning and I must say, I’m really impressed at Kris Aquino’s convincing powers. She’s really an effective fund raiser. This is the first time I was able to see how celebrities used their being a celebrity for a good cause – for very big cause. I heard how the pledges come in one after the other, from these celebrities’ endorsements to TFCs to regular citizens. It’s amazing. From what I heard about a few minutes ago, they now have 25M worth for goods and services and 20M worth of cash pledges.

Who would have thought Filipinos can be united even when it is not about politics? Let’s keep helping other people in whatever we can.
