Gear up for Summer!

Summer is officially here and before we know it, we’ll be getting invites from friends, family and relatives to different out of town getaways! What is summer without going to the beach or a nearby private resort?

My little girl seemed to have an early understanding of summer. She kept on telling us that we’ll go swimming as early as end of January. Yep, she’s excited! Her excitement is contagious that I bought her some summer stuff when we were in Trinoma a few weeks ago. You should have seen her face as I ask her if she likes this item and that one. She’s so eager to pay for them as if she’s the one to pay the bill! Kids!

bath robe Ayex didn’t have this last year. Every time she gets of out of the water, we have to change her into her dry clothes so that she won’t catch colds. That could be very tedious since she would dip herself into the water again after a few hours.

This time, I thought we can just dry her when she gets out of the water and make her wear the robe. I am hoping that she won’t catch a cold since she’s practically clothed. If she wants to go back to the water, all we have to do is remove her bath robe and she can continue enjoying by the beach or pool.

swim vest I really want to enroll Ayex to a swimming lesson this summer but I haven’t found one (been really toxic at work that this slipped from my plate). Since she doesn’t know how to swim yet but is now more confident to float by herself, we got her this floater vest. This is available in orange in another brand but the salesman said this brand is more durable than the other brand. I’m amazed that it is not as expensive as I expected it to be.

Not that Ayex is already comfortable going underwater. In fact, she only likes to float. If you submerge her into water, she’d probably cry and won’t go back to the water anymore. I just bought this one because I think it is cute. hehehe. And if by any chance she sees someone wearing one, we don’t have to borrow it. I was weird out at the price range of kiddie goggles. It can be as cheap as PhP39 or less that $1 or as expensive as PhP150 or $3.

We already have sunblock from Inidgo Manila, the one we used last year and Ayex has more or less about 5 pieces of swimwear. I’m still thinking if I will get her new swimwear because I think the price of the ones at the more is too much.

How about your kids, are they ready for some summer getaway?

Nokia 3600 Slide

NokiaThis is one of the latest projects I finished being a personal shopper. My client is based in Samar and is my mom’s officemate. I really had a hard time coordinating and finishing this project because:

  1. The client is far and everything is text-based.
  2. The above unit is rare. As of this writing, I can’t find a similar unit for myself.

Yep, after purchasing this unit for the client, I tested it at home to make sure it works. I also checked if the accessories are complete. And as I test the phone, I realized it is something that can work for me, minus the 3G capability.

Nokia 3600 slide This Nokia 3600 slide comes with 3.2MP camera, USB connection, bluetooth, radio and a card slot. I was able to get for a free 1gb memory card from my supplier because the package does not include one. Apart from that, I also bought a generic pouch as a freebie. Never mind the headache it caused me to get this unit as long as I make the client happy.

My mom is probably back in Samar as I type this. She flew back this afternoon after a week of seminar at Island Cove, Cavite. She’s carrying this unit (and another one) and I hope to get the client’s feedback about it within the week. I hope to have another satisfied client.

Chocolate Heaven by Red Ribbon

Chocolate Heaven by Red Ribbon
I see a billboard of this cake almost everyday as we exit White Plains Avenue going to EDSA. I never craved for sweets in my 5 months of being pregnant. In fact, I avoided sweets. I wanted food to be sour, spicy and salty. Not until last week. With Valentine’s day just around the corner, I told hubby I want that cake. I must say, if it wasn’t for the billboard, I would have not thought of buying this Chocolate Heaven cake because I wouldn’t know it exists.

February 13, we head to Las Piñas for our usual visit. It was also time for my monthly check-up with my OB. I promised the little girl that we will bring her to the mall to play after my check-up. I thought it was also the perfect time to buy the cake so all of us with sweet-tooth can feast on it.

Unfortunately, the Red Ribbon branch at SM SouthMall ran out of stocks. That’s not really a surprise given that the next day is already Valentine’s day. I was just hopeful that they were able to foresee the sudden rise of demand for cakes.

So V-day passed by and we’re back to QC. Monday night, I saw the billboard again and told hubby I still want that cake. After my waxing session at Lay Bare Waxing Salon, we head to the Red Ribbon branch at Congressional Avenue.

I felt giddy the moment I saw the cake in their display from the outside of the store. The place was quite busy when we came in so I asked for someone’s help immediately and ordered the cake before everything can be sold out. Gladly, they have loads of stocks in their fridge. I was took home a large Chocolate Heaven cake. I opted for this one because the price of PhP560 seemed appropriate for its size unlike the small one which costs PhP350+. I love maximizing the value of my money.

Chocolate Heaven stayed true to its name having 4 different kinds of chocolate in it to enjoy. It has chocolate curls, chocolate icing, chocolate mousse and brownies. I never tasted Red Ribbon cakes this good before. I can’t even describe the feeling when I eat it. Good job to the one who created this cake!

As of this writing I still haven’t finished the slices I brought here at the office yesterday. I wonder if the people at home remembered today that they still have a cake in the fridge. They seem to forgot about it yesterday as it was still the way I left it last Monday evening.
