Take Care of Your Feet

Apart from bags, I also have a collection of shoes. Nope, I am not rich and not Imeldific at all, I just have the right number of shoes in my collection. Why do I collect shoes? It is because I have a hard time looking for a style the suits my feet best, read: will make my feet look prettier. Notice the adjective?

I don’t have a pretty feet to begin with, maybe because my parents didn’t thought of taking care of them when I was younger. But my feet are not that bad looking because I learned to take care of them myself early. I am very concerned with their look that sometimes, people with very nice feet attracts me like my hubby. Yes, hubby’s feet are prettier than mine.

What did I do to take care of my feet?

  • Never wet your feet when you are tired. If the soles are dirty, use a wet tissue or cloth to clean it. This prevents your veins from popping out from your skin.
  • When your feet got soaked in dirty water during a flood, soak them in lukewarm water with salt.
  • Always put lotion.
  • Use petroleum jelly at night and cover them socks.
  • Go for a pedicure every month. Do not put nail polish always so your nails can breathe.
  • Pick the right kind of shoes: design-wise and size-wise.
  • Get a foot massage every now and then.
  • When tired, elevate your feet to rest them.

I believe that no matter how pricey and beautiful your shoes are if your feet looks very tired, it will still show. Unless of course you are wearing a pair of boots.

Keratosis Pilaris

KP or more commonly known as chicken skin is characterized by the appearance of small, rough bumps on the skin.

Initially, I thought these bumps are still due to the skin allergy I had last month. However, reading now, looks I had this all along and I never noticed until today. Why on Earth do I have such a sensitive skin!

Keratosis pilaris is unsightly but completely harmless. KP tends to be worse during the winter months or other times of low humidity when the skin dries out. It may also occur and/or worsen among pregnant women or show up after childbirth.

There is no cure for keratosis pilaris, since KP is a chronic, genetic follicular disease, however treatments are available. Results from treatments vary and can often be disappointing. With persistence, most people will see satisfactory improvement. It is recommended that treatment not be discontinued because the buildup of keratin (the hard protein in the skin, nails, and hair) will continue to reform around the hair follicles.

There is no cure for KP but reducing skin dryness may be helpful. Below are some tips how we can keep our skin moisturized.

* Use mild soaps or gentle body washes.

* Apply moisturizers frequently — For better absorption, apply to the skin while it’s still moist after showering.

* Take tepid showers rather than hot baths.

* Light exfoliation with an abrasive pad may sometimes be of help, however scrubbing the areas of KP is not recommended, and can worsen the condition.

* Keeping areas of KP exfoliated with a Salicylic Acid or AHA based lotion works best.

I should really start taking care of my skin more. What skin regimen do you suggest and what products work for you?

Birthday Treats

I didn’t expect to receive treats for my birthday. I’m really thankful for these. I’m no materialistic person but getting something I don’t expect is always welcome.

Before I went to my treatments, I found hubby alone in our room tinkering something. When I asked him what he was doing, he flashed me a huge mischievous smile. Then he handed me a square thing wrapped in calendar paper with the following note in front.

Love Notes
I was super excited to open my gift that after decoding the numbers, I ripped the wrapper without taking a picture of it. I only remember to take its picture when hubby reminded me.

Ipod Shuffle Orange

My jogging buddy

This gift is very timely because I mean to start jogging to trim down my weight. I like it that it is orange. I’d like to commend Apple for being able to pack such thing in a very compact manner. This package already include the shuffle unit, headset and USB cable. Amazing, eh?

On with my treats. I had my much needed waxing treatment at Lay Bare Waxing Salon Congressional. They gave me a 15% off in my UA treatment plus a FREE eye brow threading. This is also timely because my brows have grown thick and messy.

The last treat I got was from The Spa. It was my first time to have a massage in The Spa and I can say that I will definitely come back again. More of that experience in another post. I used the gift card our previous boss gave us last Christmas worth PhP1000. I was booked for a Swedish massage in a Deluxe room. Since it was my birthday, they gave me a free upgrade to an executive room plus a PhP200 voucher.

The Spa Gift Card
Pampering is always a great way to celebrate one’s birthday, noh? The best part is, I only spent little on these beautification.
