A visit to East Avenue Medical Center

I knew that this is going to happen one of these days. And last night was when it materialized.

Ok, first comment. I didn’t know that East Avenue Medical Center is a public hospital. I thought it is a private one with very nice interior. Wrong!

My dad warned me about bringing Ayex along when I told him that we’ll go to the hospital to bring some stuff. These are for my paternal grandmother and for those who are looking after her namely my auntie and my cousin. Apart from the warning, he also told me that getting inside the hospital building is quite hard as the guards are very strict. They should be specially these days that we have a low-level alert for Inluenza A H1N1 pandemic! Ok, I digress.

After several minutes of talking to the guard and asking for permission (since we’re already way beyond the visiting time), he finally remembered what I was asking from him. I went back to the car, told hubby that we can bring in the stuff already. We were stopped again at the door because apparently, we cannot just bring in an electric fan without doctors permission. So we left the electric fan and proceeded to looked for the elevator. Their elevator is jurassic! It was going down already when we came. Mon had to take a pee and when he came back the it is still at the basement! It stayed there for a good ten minutes or so.

The heart break started when I saw my lola. We were not really close but there were times in my childhood years that we spent with them. She’s there because of a fractured hips. Her case is almost 2 months already if I’m not mistaken. When she first had an x-ray, they didn’t see anything, probably because they did a thigh/leg x-ray and not a hip x-ray. To date, my dad said her left leg is already shorter by three centimeters because the bone has been pushed upwards due to the fracture. She kept on complaining to me last night that she can’t sleep because her left leg ache so much. They put something in her leg and it looks like it is tied to the end of the hospital bed. I assumed they did that to prevent the leg from moving which may cause additional damage.

Looking at her alone, helpless, is already heart breaking. Hearing what she said was more heart breaking!

Kala ‘ko hindi na tayo magkikita eh. Masakit ang aking paa. Hindi ako makatulog. Nasan si Ayex? (I thought we’ll never see each other again. My feet hurt. I cannot sleep. Where is Ayex?)

These were some of the things she said/asked. I did my best to answer her cheerfully and assured her that everything will be back to normal after the operation.

I massaged her temple as advised by Mon. By the time my auntie and cousin came back from the lobby where they seek for doctor’s approval for the electric fan, her eyes were shut. I told them that I have to go because it was already 10:30 PM, Ayex is waiting and we still have work the next day. I did not wake her up to say bye. She need all the sleep she can get.

It’s sad that we have to see our loved ones in such condition.

Moral: They said it so many times already. Cherish every moment with your loved ones.

After 6 months…

…I still failed to fulfill my personal objective to have at least 2 FULL months with NO late. As in be at the office on or before 10:00 AM. It is just so hard these days, specially when I commute. Traffic seem to be everywhere and I’m not so lucky with the jeeps that I take. To top it all, the elevators in our building are always broken! *sigh* Good thing I use that as an excuse to exercise.

There are days when I get to the office before my shift. There are days when I time in just a few minutes after my shift. On worse days, I time in at thirty minutes past my shift. *sigh again*

I have six months left. Pray with me that I can make it. Being on time for at least 2 FULL months shouldn’t be that hard to accomplish, right?

Good Hair Day

This happens rarely so I have to blog it here as a remembrance – that once in a blue moon, my hair cooperates with me. It somewhat makes me feel better after having a bit of harassing morning due to commute. It’s raining again! What a way to start a week!

Me and my nice hair.
