How do you keep the fire burning?

I’ve been wanting to blog about this even before I cam across this contest Mommy Ro is hosting. But you know, I’ve broken my promise to blog more often a lot of times already so I’m trying again now.

How do you keep the connection going on? This is the question most couples face after undergoing a very big change in their lives. In our case, that would be having our little Ayex.

There were times when I would think Mon and I are losing our connection. We were or should I say I was beginning to concentrate all my excess energy after work for Ayex. I thought that was right, put your child first before your spouse. Wrong! Big mistake. Ate Meriam, our dear helper, told me that you should take care of your spouse first because your relationship with him/her affects your child. It is hard. But thinking about it makes me realize that it is logical.

Now, even if we’re tired, we still manage to bond every now and then. Simple visit to our favorite isawan makes us both very happy and giddy. If work permits, we leave the office early and head somewhere else before heading home like the mall. We dine out once every month and we try places we’ve never been to. In the evening, while putting Ayex to bed, we talk about anything and everything that happened to our day. When I’m not lazy and Ayex is not being jealous, I give Mon a quick back massage. I also realize now how I love cooking for him, although that does not happen every day.

I thought we were spending too little time together nowadays. It might be true. But writing about it now, I realized that we do not need 24 hours together to say that we had a great time in each others company. Each time spent together makes us discover each other over again in so many different ways.

Record power savings for RP in Earth Hour 2009

I was super giddy to hear that Philippines topped the rest of the world in terms of participation the the recent Earth Hour 2009. But as Nix said, we should be more concerned of how much power we were able to save. And the results are here. I’m so proud that me and my whole family participated!

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippines topped last Saturday’s hour-long lights-off drive in terms of power savings.

According to information posted in the website wwf.org.ph, the Philippines saved 611 MWh of power during the Earth Hour 20009, outshining the rest of the world.

The website also disclosed that with over 15 million Filipinos in 650 major cities participating in the event last Mar. 26, the Philippines edged out all other countries, including Australia where the first Earth Hour was conducted in 2007.

Greece placed second with 484 cities and towns participating, followed by Australia with 309.

The website indicated that the power conserved by the Philippines during voluntary event was estimated to be equal to that saved by shutting down a dozen coal-fired power plants for an hour.

Earth Hour 2009’s power savings was deemed “at least 10 times more massive and effective” compared to last year.

If you participated in this event, wherever you are, Thank You! Let us all continue to work together in saving Mother Earth.

Hi there! I'm Nicquee and this is my little space in this world wide web. I'm a mom of two and is happily married. I started this blog as literally my online journal where I dump my emotions.
