Where to Go on Holiday?

Many families and holiday makers are using the mid-summer time to plan their vacations. It seems that a lot of people are now waiting until after the high summer season to book.

If you are one of these bargain hunters keep in mind where is still warm at the end of summer. Most of the countries around the Mediterranean have been warmed all summer by the beating sun and although the sun may not be as harsh in September, October time, the ground and sea remain just as warm. This is in stark contrast to the start of summer where the summer sun is in its nascence and the land remains fresh from the winter.

UK destinations Some of the most popular destinations in this area are countries such as Spain, Portugal and the South of France. Anywhere in Sothern Italy and its other Adriatic neighbours such as Croatia are also perfect at this time of year. Moving further south to Greece and Turkey may be a mistake as their dusty, parched countryside still feels the full scorn of the summer sun at this time of year.

Other great destinations to visit in the late summer, early autumn, are the Canary Islands. The Spanish Islands lie just west of the North Coast of Africa and retain their warmth right into the middle of autumn.

All of these destinations would be great for family vacations as they are warm but do not have nearly the health repercussions a more sun drenched destination may incur.

In recent years though, it has become warmer in late summer in the UK, a so called Indian summer. This has helped towards the increase of domestic holidays, if you are looking to keep it local this year www.scottish-cottages.co.uk have some great ideas for places to stay here in the UK.

Birthstone Stud Earrings

Before school started, we went to Trinoma for a last stroll. I was so happy we did because I have a hidden agenda. LOL. I have been wanting to bring the husband there because I wanted him to buy me the cute mechanical pencil sharpener (for me and Alex) and birthstone stud earrings for us, girls.

It was a huge success! Now, me and the girls are all wearing stud earrings with our birthstones. What I like most about our earrings is that it has this double-lock, the type that pediatricians use during ear-piercing. Coolness, right?

I really did not know the girl’s birthstone so I simply looked for the box with their corresponding birth month. If you have the same case as mine and you want to buy birthstone stud earrings too, here is a guide for you.

DIY: Rubber Shoes Makeover

Even before SY 2011-2012 ended, Alex was already complaining about her white strap-in rubber shoes. She said the fit is already tight. So we shifted to her black laced rubber shoes.

A few weeks ago, we went to the mall with the goal of buying her a new pair of rubber shoes. It was a huge success! We bought a high-cut pair with a design that she loves.

Then came SY 2012-2013. She enrolled in a new school. And this new school does not allow laced rubber shoes. The reason behind is that sometimes pre-schoolers play games that make them remove their shoes. If they are using a laced rubber shoes, it will take a lot of time to wear them again. Makes sense.

Alex has a pair of tight-fitting strap-in rubber shoes and two pairs of laced rubber shoes. It is simply impractical to buy another rubber shoes for the school. So we agreed that we will DIY the old black rubber shoes to make it lace-free.

This is the finished product.

We are looking for other materials like gems and stones to glam it more.
