A Day in a Commuter’s Life

I am one lucky person today!

The number coding for buses started today. The members of IMBOA went on strike and only very few buses operated to show their disapproval of this new law. Because of that, many commuters got stranded and became late for their work.

On Mondays, hubby usually drives me to work since he didn’t work the night before. Today, I didn’t wake him up because he appears to be very sleepy to me. He did so many chores yesterday so I decided to commute. When I reached Tandang Sora, I got shocked when I saw a see of people waiting for a ride. My destination is just a 5-minute ride including traffic but all the jeepneys were full and even have sabit. I didn’t know there was a transport strike. I almost told myself I took the wrong move but lucky me, I got a ride after a few minutes of waiting under the sun.

At Philcoa, the shuttles were still there and were not affected of the strike. The driver was tuned in to an AM station where I learned about the strike. I got worried that I’ll have a hard time going home tonight because the buses might still not operate.

When I reached Galleria after work, there were more buses than what I saw this morning. The thing is, all of them are very full. I walked towards the Ortigas MRT station hoping to get a ride and I didn’t fail. There were no more vacant seats so I had nk other choice but to stand up. The bus was not very full yet and you can still move unlike the others. Keri lang. I was confident that I will be able to seat when I reach Cubao. I was right.

Over-all, today’s commute was ordinary for me. I didn’t ran after the buses just to get a ride and my travel time was the same. I am a lucky person because the strike didn’t affect me much. Thank God!

Tomorrow is a holiday, another bonding time with hubby and the girls. I hope we can get Ayex her ballet shoes already for her class on Friday.
