Commuter Sentiments: Fare Hikes

Intro. I work in Ortigas and live in Project 8. On my way home, I take the bus until Muñoz then take a jeepney. My fare from Ortigas to Muñoz is P18 via an air-conditioned bus.

I only went to work twice last week. Since Maxyn got hospitalized and was only discharged last Monday, March 28, I decided not to work the following day so I can get some rest. I only went to work on Wednesday and Thursday. I worked from home on Friday because of another visit to the hospital and ballet recital practice. While we were at the hospital, I saw on the news that there will be a bus fare hike for the first five kilometers ONLY. It will start on March 29. I felt relieved because I will not be affected.

I was right. Last Wednesday and Thursday, I still payed my usual P18 fare.

Anne Curtis for SMDC

Anne Curtis SMDC endorser I commute to and from work almost always. When I am on the road, I notice a lot of things, from billboards to actual people. I think of myself as a very observant person. Maybe that was why I noticed Anne Curtis’ billboards and bus posters for SMDC.

I used to see Marian Rivera’s face in the SM Development Corporation (SMDC) billboard in Katipunan until the past few months. The billboard is nicely positioned and is hard to miss. Since I pass by Katipunan everyday in the morning, I quickly noticed the changes. Blogging about it just kept on slipping my mind.

Anyway, I searched online to check what happened. I was able to confirm that Anne indeed replaced Marian as SMDC’s face. So there, goodbye Marian, hello Anne! For me, this is a wise decision on SMDC’s part. I think Anne’s image is way better than the first plus I think she is a lot prettier too! Also, the first is always involved into negative controversies, which may be giving wrong impressions to buyers of SMDC properties.

What Happens After the Bus Bombing?

Right after the bus bombing that happened last Tuesday, hubby called me. He told me not to ride the bus on my way home. I know how he feels so I told him I will just walk. Hahaha!

As expected, everyone diverted themselves to the MRT. I know how MRT looks like during rush hours and if I have a choice, I’d rather take the bus. That is what I did last Tuesday night.

Yesterday, I had to go to Las Pinas and fetch Mon because he was not feeling well. I live in Quezon City so I am travelling from North to South. If I take the bus, it would take years before I reach LP. So yes, you guessed it right, I took the MRT. Lucky me, the management implemented tighter security and the queue was very very long. I knew that in my head as soon as I decided I will take the MRT.

So to everyone planning to take the train, you should bring lots of patience with because that is the way it is. Either you take the bus and wait in the traffic or patiently move yourself until you are able to get yourself inside the train.
