Celebrating 110 years of independence

Today, we are celebrating 110 years of independence from being a Spaniards’ colony. Congrats to my fellow Filipinos! How come it seems that this day is so ordinary?

For one, I think because it’s not a holiday, unlike the previous years. Next, do you really feel the independence?

I know, I have lots of time because this work of mine don’t seem to fit me right, so here I am again, ready to rant! Hahahaha! Kidding aside. It’s just that there are times that I still feel that we are slaves, by whom or by what, I don’t really know. Perhaps we are slaves of poverty and corrupt government officials.

I, myself, is a slave of my lack of guts to pursue what I really want to do in this so-called career. (I’ll blog about that in a separate entry). Maybe because I’m not really sure what I want. Let me try to justify this post by defining what slave is.

From google:

  • a person who is owned by someone
  • someone who works as hard as a slave
  • work very hard, like a slave
  • someone entirely dominated by some influence or person; “a slave to fashion”; “a slave to cocaine”; “his mother was his abject slave”

From the definitions above, I think I’m partially right. What do you think?

More take-home pay for fellow working Filipinos

I didn’t fully heard this news on the television, I just got the gist – there is a new bill being reviewed that aims to increase the current tax exemptions we have. Hooray!

I’ve been meaning to blog about it, but you see, I almost forgot about it despite the fact that I have all the time in the world to blog while at the office! Hahahaha! (I really need some memory enhancers, any suggestions?) Ok, back to the bill.

As far as I’m concerned, as a married person with no dependent (since Mon was the one who declared Ayex as his dependent), my current tax exemption is PhP32,000. In the new bill, this will be increased to PhP50,000! That’s additional PhP18,000 to my yearly take-home pay. As for Mon, his current tax exemption is PhP40,000 (PhP32,000 for being married and PhP8,000 for having 1 dependent). This will be increased to PhP75,000 in the new bill (PhP50,000 for being married and PhP25,000 for having 1 dependent). Wow! That’s additional PhP35,000 annually, which we can save for Ayex’s schooling in the future!

I hope and pray that this bill will soon be signed by GMA and be effective immediately because I’m really feeling that 32% tax on my salary. And if I may say, if this will be implemented properly, I think this will be one bills that is truly made to create a better life for Filipinos, then we can finally say, our taxes are worth it all.

For a more comprehensive new regarding this bill, you may read this article.

This is so sad!

My daily routine when I come to the office includes checking of my personal email accounts and of course, multiply. To my horror, it was blocked!!!! I tried for 3 times and I wasn’t lucky. (This used to happen before but for a little while only). I asked one of my IT friends and I was shocked to read his YM status that reads: Trenders blocked na ang multiply at flickr.!!!

They should not do this! As Therese said, “How can we be creative if we’re bored and uninspired?” because multiply is our ultimate anti-stress! Hayyyy!
