School Girl: Day 2

Today is Ayex’s second day at school. We were not sure how long her trial class would be but we decided to send her to school again since we’re already planning to enroll her formally.

Apart from having the joy of bringing her to school, I also had a glimpse of what happens in their classroom and I must say, my kid is really behaved. smileys

After a while, hubby and I left the room. We went to the school’s office to fix Ayex’s enrollment. There Sir Ferdy met with us since Teacher Marlyn is still attending a seminar somewhere. Until the end of the class, we were there, talking about Ayex.

When the class ended, Ayex’s teacher (I forgot her name) brought her to the office. The teacher carried a coloring book, which she handed to me. Then she showed me the page Ayex worked on. It was pretty neat. After that, Ayex show me her hands. Teacher said Ayex wanted the star but it was in another room she gave her something else.

Ayex with her Good Job! stamp in both hands.

We jokingly said that the reason she had those stamps is because she asked for them. smileys

Pre-school Hunting

… or should I say play school hunting is almost over. This project started May this year. I know, that’s already late but we are really half-hearted about this project.

I’ve read a thread about this in GirlTalk and I must say that their insights are pretty helpful although I never considered the schools they mentioned except for one – Kalinga Day Care Center (KDCC). We went there, without, Ayex to check it out. They have a huge place, older kids are separated from the younger ones and best of all, I can say that they will maximize the worth of our money with their half day or whole day sessions. Why did I say that? Because some pre-schools only offer a one-hour session per day, 3 times a week and it will cost you roughly PhP30,000.

I know it is a good deal for us, parents, and will be good too for Ayex. However, KDCC is a bit too far from where we live, thus we didn’t push through. So back to square one.

Thanks for the two Special Holidays last week and to my boss for allowing me to work from home on Thursday (my left eye kept on flickering, I can’t see very well). Not only I was able to spend loads of quality time with both Ayex and Mon, we also found a pre-school for Ayex!

Ok, I said we’re just looking for a play school right? Why do we want to enroll Ayex in a playschool in the first place? The reason is we want her to learn how to socialize. Don’t get me wrong. Ayex is really well around people specially those she already knew. But you have to give her time, around thirty minutes, before she will interact with others. That we want to improve. Ok going back to the pre-school versus play school. Actually, we went to a pre-school nearby, less than a ten-minute jeepney ride away. MIL said that Mon’s cousin’s kids also went to that school. I’ve been wanting to check them out even before she said that. So when she mentioned that, I wanted to check it more because I can ask my CILs about it.

The place is Ok on first look. Upon talking to, I presume, the directress, we found out that they are offering a pre-nursery session. Kids enrolled in this class range from 2.9 – 3 years old. They have one kid who is 2.7yo though, just like Ayex. This class has an hour session daily, 8-9AM. Their current student-teacher ratio is 6:2, it will become 7:2 if we enroll Ayex. And the fees, roughly less than PhP10,000 including the books and uniforms for the rest of the year. I was already game for it. I was further convinced when Teacher Marlyn, the presumed directress, offered us a trial class.

Today, Ayex went to First Line Integrated School in Engineering St., Project 8, Quezon City, for a trial class. I’m all excited to hear about it. I regret that I have to go to work and miss her “first” day of school. Hubby sent me an MMS of her star, first one also, for completing her coloring activity. Another first I missed. Oh well.

Tomorrow, hubby will probably bring Ayex to school again (he’s on vacation leave until the end of August) and will probably enroll her too. If these push through, by Wednesday, Ayex will go to school as a full-pledge school girl. Awwwww! Wala na talaga kaming baby!

Toddler Drawing

Last Saturday, I wanted to catch up on my sleep debt since we’re not scheduled to visit my family in Las Pinas. Staying in QC on weekends means more sleeping for me.

Hubby had to leave Ayex and me early because he has his me-time somewhere else. Our family time was scheduled later that day with my girlfriends so there’s no need to wake up early.

I was fortunate enough that Ayex slept with me until 9AM. But when she woke up, she started bugging me to go out with her and play. I know. It was weekend and I’m suppose to dedicate my whole time and energy to her. But a couple more hours of sleep won’t hurt right?

I told her to go outside already and play and that I’ll get up in a bit. Every fifteen minutes or so, she would come back to our room and tell me Mommy lika na! Wake up na! She did this for more than 5 times, I think. Yeah, I’m that sleepy and my hurting back makes me want to lie flat on the bed more! Ayex probably got tired of urging me to stand up and play with her. So she went outside and when she came back, she already has her notebook and crayon with her.

She sat beside me and started pouring out the contents of her bag, mostly crayons. She lied on her chest and started doodling. Here is her drawing.

I asked what it is and she said in a soft voice Banana. I looked at the picture again and indeed, it has a shape similar to a banana only that it is in blue and is inverted! I took a picture of it right away and sent it to hubby!

I’m really hoping that Ayex will grow as a creative person like her Titas.
