Ayex Can Now Write!

Last Wednesday, hubby and I went to NBS to have Ayex’s Fetcher’s ID laminated. He was already at the counter when I remembered we have to replace Ayex’s drawing notebook as all the leaves has been drawn already! Yeah, she really likes to doodle.

When we got home, hubby handed her the plastic file case with the notebook inside. She was so giddy to see the new notebook! She went to her toy box and looked for her crayons, which are inside the bag sitting on the sofa beside me. Unable to find her crayons, she went back to me.

Ayex: Mommy san na yung crayons ko?
Me: Diba yung crayons mo nasa bag mo?
Ayex: Ahhhhh.
Then I handed her the bag and she excitedly turn the bag upside-down and let the crayons fall. She took orange and started doodling again on the second page of the notebook. This is what she draw:

Do you recognize them?

She drew the letter A first and after drawing it, she said, eto A!. The big letter A was followed by a small letter b. After writing the letter b, she drew a couple more letter b, while telling us that it is a letter b.

I was pretty amazed! I asked our helper if she was the one who taught Ayex those but she just smiled. Or she could have learned them from school. Wherever she learned it, I’m so proud of her!

Experiencing TOSH

I never had the chance to dine at The Old Spaghetti House or more popularly called as TOSH before. When my teammates went there almost 3 years ago, I was in my maternity leave. There were times when I wanted to eat there but for some reasons, we always end up with something else.

Not until last August 19, 2009, yep, that was our anniversary. Hubby and I had the whole by ourselves. It was declared a special holiday due to Quezon City Day. Since Ayex is conditioned that we go to work on weekdays, we were able to spend the whole together and away from home.

So off we went to Galleria because we wanted to check out their month-long sale. When I got hungry, I texted my officemates what food place they can suggest within the area. A friend suggested Burger King (BK) but I really wanted to try something new, I place I’ve never been to. The I remember TOSH at the upper level.

Hubby agreed that we’ll eat at TOSH but he really wanted to eat Mongolian so we bought Mongolian first then headed to TOSH. I must say that their service is fast and their food are soooo delicious and tasty! Until now, I can still remember the pasta that I ate! And the drinks we ordered, they were really refreshing! Oh, they have courteous people too who always smile!

Pepper-Crusted Fish with Spaghetti in Sun-dried Tomato Pesto

I super loved my pasta! Now it makes me want to eat at TOSH now! Want to check them out, visit their web site. WARNING: What you see will definitely make you hungry.

Pre-school Hunting

… or should I say play school hunting is almost over. This project started May this year. I know, that’s already late but we are really half-hearted about this project.

I’ve read a thread about this in GirlTalk and I must say that their insights are pretty helpful although I never considered the schools they mentioned except for one – Kalinga Day Care Center (KDCC). We went there, without, Ayex to check it out. They have a huge place, older kids are separated from the younger ones and best of all, I can say that they will maximize the worth of our money with their half day or whole day sessions. Why did I say that? Because some pre-schools only offer a one-hour session per day, 3 times a week and it will cost you roughly PhP30,000.

I know it is a good deal for us, parents, and will be good too for Ayex. However, KDCC is a bit too far from where we live, thus we didn’t push through. So back to square one.

Thanks for the two Special Holidays last week and to my boss for allowing me to work from home on Thursday (my left eye kept on flickering, I can’t see very well). Not only I was able to spend loads of quality time with both Ayex and Mon, we also found a pre-school for Ayex!

Ok, I said we’re just looking for a play school right? Why do we want to enroll Ayex in a playschool in the first place? The reason is we want her to learn how to socialize. Don’t get me wrong. Ayex is really well around people specially those she already knew. But you have to give her time, around thirty minutes, before she will interact with others. That we want to improve. Ok going back to the pre-school versus play school. Actually, we went to a pre-school nearby, less than a ten-minute jeepney ride away. MIL said that Mon’s cousin’s kids also went to that school. I’ve been wanting to check them out even before she said that. So when she mentioned that, I wanted to check it more because I can ask my CILs about it.

The place is Ok on first look. Upon talking to, I presume, the directress, we found out that they are offering a pre-nursery session. Kids enrolled in this class range from 2.9 – 3 years old. They have one kid who is 2.7yo though, just like Ayex. This class has an hour session daily, 8-9AM. Their current student-teacher ratio is 6:2, it will become 7:2 if we enroll Ayex. And the fees, roughly less than PhP10,000 including the books and uniforms for the rest of the year. I was already game for it. I was further convinced when Teacher Marlyn, the presumed directress, offered us a trial class.

Today, Ayex went to First Line Integrated School in Engineering St., Project 8, Quezon City, for a trial class. I’m all excited to hear about it. I regret that I have to go to work and miss her “first” day of school. Hubby sent me an MMS of her star, first one also, for completing her coloring activity. Another first I missed. Oh well.

Tomorrow, hubby will probably bring Ayex to school again (he’s on vacation leave until the end of August) and will probably enroll her too. If these push through, by Wednesday, Ayex will go to school as a full-pledge school girl. Awwwww! Wala na talaga kaming baby!
