Are You Vitamin D Sufficient?

Last April, I visited my ob-gyne for my yearly “full-exam”. I told her the things I experienced the previous month that I do not feel before. And so she checked my records and found out that my last trans-v was 3 years ago. She gave me a request and was done that day too. The result showed I had polyps in my endometrium and that it is best for them to be removed. I told my mom about it and she was quite panicky to hear it. Why? Because she had myoma that she ignored and it eventually grew into a perfect sphere with a diameter of a saucer.

Fast forward to last month. So I feel that I am already healed a month after my hysteroscopic polypectomy. I visited my internist whom I last saw December of 2016. I asked for request for blood chemistry because the last time we did that, some of my results were at the brim of the normal level. It is safe to say that I am now serious in giving myself protection against these diseases. Lo and behold, some results were still at the brim but there were some that are already HIGH! To think that I have been really careful with what we have been eating!

So what am I trying to say here? I am simply saying that maybe, it is not just about our food intake and the exercises that we do. Maybe, we really do need supplements as proteksyon. My mom told me that she underwent a Vitamin D sufficiency test. And while the test said she is sufficient, you and I may not be. My husband and our children may not be. In fact, 7 out of 10 Filipinos are Vitamin D Deficient (based on a study conducted with Hi-Precision Diagnostics, where 8200 Filipinos from key cities in the Philippines were tested for Vitamin D Deficiency).

4 Simple Skin Care Regimen for Everyone

We moms wear so many hats that multi-tasking is easy-peasy for us. We can be tutors and referees at the same time. We are the nurse, the driver, the personal assistant, the cheerleader, and many more. There is so much on our plate but our time and energy is limited. And if we do not have time anymore, caring for our body is the one we almost always tend to drop.

Lucky me, I am not so guilty about this anymore. I have learned my lesson the hard way – after getting sick for two weeks. But there is an area that I am still behind – skin care. I do not know. I feel that it is a tedious thing to do that I would rather sleep even if I know I really need to do it else I will suffer later on.

Having beautiful skin does not always mean you need to break the bank and buy the most expensive skin care products just for the search of our skin’s holy grail. It does not need to be like that simply because you just need to know and understand your skin type in order to be able to manage it and turn it to a more beautiful skin without paying too much!

Here are four simple tips to consider:

  1. You need to make sure that you get enough sleep because being well-rested means having enough time for the skin to renew and regenerate overnight. It also lessens the chance of having acne breakout and dark circles under the eyes.
  2. Drink plenty of water EVERYDAY. When you drink plenty of water you nourish your skin with natural moisturizing properties plus it helps flush out the toxins from your body.
  3. Eat healthy and exercise regularly. This does not only make you slimmer and fitter, it also provides amazing skin results because you get enough antioxidants by eating healthy plus you release happy hormones which make up for a stress-free, wrinkle-free face!
  4. Moisturize and give your skin extra care by taking skin enhancing supplements that provide a healthier and better skin while providing other health benefits to the body, just like what Vita-E does!
