Are You Vitamin D Sufficient?

Last April, I visited my ob-gyne for my yearly “full-exam”. I told her the things I experienced the previous month that I do not feel before. And so she checked my records and found out that my last trans-v was 3 years ago. She gave me a request and was done that day too. The result showed I had polyps in my endometrium and that it is best for them to be removed. I told my mom about it and she was quite panicky to hear it. Why? Because she had myoma that she ignored and it eventually grew into a perfect sphere with a diameter of a saucer.

Fast forward to last month. So I feel that I am already healed a month after my hysteroscopic polypectomy. I visited my internist whom I last saw December of 2016. I asked for request for blood chemistry because the last time we did that, some of my results were at the brim of the normal level. It is safe to say that I am now serious in giving myself protection against these diseases. Lo and behold, some results were still at the brim but there were some that are already HIGH! To think that I have been really careful with what we have been eating!

So what am I trying to say here? I am simply saying that maybe, it is not just about our food intake and the exercises that we do. Maybe, we really do need supplements as proteksyon. My mom told me that she underwent a Vitamin D sufficiency test. And while the test said she is sufficient, you and I may not be. My husband and our children may not be. In fact, 7 out of 10 Filipinos are Vitamin D Deficient (based on a study conducted with Hi-Precision Diagnostics, where 8200 Filipinos from key cities in the Philippines were tested for Vitamin D Deficiency).

Vitamin D-Deficiency happens because:

1. It is hard to get enough Vitamin D from the sun. Taas ang kamay ng lagi pang naaarawan! Still, sun exposure does not guarantee full Vitamin D absorption because of a lot of factors (umbrella usage, suncreen usage, clothing, skin color and aging).

2. It is difficult to obtain from food. The Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) of Vitamin D is equivalent to 40 eggs / 8 glasses of milk / 800g of salmon / 2 cans of tuna flakes every day. How can someone eat 40 eggs in a day?!

So how can we ensure that we will be Vitamin D sufficient? Take 1 Capsule of Forti-D a day. Each gel capsule contains 800IU of Vitamin D, which is our daily need. Imagine, for only Php6.50 per capsule, we are given protective effects against serious diseases by keeping VITAL ORGANS functioning healthily (including the heart, bones, muscles and brain).

Seryosong Proteksyon, Simulan Ngayon!
