Decluttering

Yesterday, our new helper ironed our clothes. I think she is still adjusting because there were not much in the hamper but it took her about six hours to finish everything even when I she did a lot of short-cuts. There were instances when I saw how she works and for me, she is doing short-cuts. Anyway. By the time she was done, I and the girls are already in bed. Since I cannot pile our clothes yet in our closet, I told her to just bring then in. When the girls are both asleep, I started sorting the clothes.

I had a hard time putting both my clothes and hubby’s in our closet because we no longer have space! I was kind of frustrated already but I had to keep my cool. I think it is a sign that I need to declutter.

This morning, I received a text message from my sister. She was telling all of us that she is about to throw all the broken dvds we have. She was decluttering! I received a few more messages from her about my stuff that are still there including my huge accounting book that I used for three trimesters back in college! I told her to keep that book because it has so much memories! No, for your information, I am no accounting major but I had five accounting subjects, excluding bookkeeping Austin. I almost lost my opportunity to graduate with flying colors because I got a lower than usual grade in one of my financial classes! Oh, did I mention that I and my best friend opt out on our after graduation getaway because she attended summer classes in our last financial class? I really wish Austin quickbooks already exist that time and we could have slapped our teacher with it for giving us a hard-time when there are a lot of software to make things a lot easier! Take note, accounting is not even our major!

Ok, back to decluttering. My sister found some more of my old stuff and asked me what to do with them. I told her to keep them and I will get them all when we go there this weekend. And she replied to me with seriously?!!!!! Hahaha! I just want to have a last look on them and reminisce more before I throw them into the bin. I think I should do my own decluttering after her.

Try having a garage sale. That way you’ll de-clutter and earn some money in the process.

Getting rid of clutter can be made incredibly simple but as you said, frustrating : just go through your stuff, one section, closet, drawer, or shelf at a time, and get rid of everything that isn’t absolutely essential, that you don’t love and use often.

It makes me feel good too!

My hubby is like you. I, I am getting there. Needs more practice in putting everything in their proper place.

You can sell your broken and old DVD’s, I think its P16/kilo (not sure). You can sell your old books to Recto too. Ako kasi ayoko naman ng madami tambak sa bahay (sayang ang space) kaya if di na ginagamit pinamimigay ko na or binebenta.

I did not know that I can sell the DVDs by kilo. Thanks for the tip sissy! As for the books, I think my mom plans to donate them to needy students.

declutter. that is one word that is not in my vocabulary. LOL seriously, i think i’m too much of a sentimental. i can’t seem to part ways with old books, letters, and what-have-yous. but i’m really trying to talk myself into decluttering, because like you, i need extra space in my closet and drawers too! 😀

btw, thanks so much for joining hump day $50!

I decluttered my closet by donating to the Washi victims, I quite had 5 bags of clothing, bags and shoes but that isn’t enough. I am squeezing like sardines with my friends in this home. Not getting my own space where I get to clean everyday and not following everyone’s mess is finally taking it’s toll on me. It makes me want to just stay in bed and be lazy.

That is a lot of stuff!

My aim for this year with regards to decluttering is to do it one every quarter. Good luck to me!
