It was around 7PM of June 7, 2010 when we decided to eat dinner. Before I went down, I messaged hubby over YM what our food was and asked what he wanted. That time, I already noticed the contraction. A few minutes, I got a call from hubby. He just called to tell me what he wanted for dinner. By this time, I can feel the contraction every 5 minutes so I told him to come home already.
It was around 9:30PM when we finally arrived at the hospital, contraction still at every 5 minutes. Like the first time, more than 3 years ago, the ER people did not allow me to walk like I wanted to. After a few questions, I went our of the ER to walk as I still can. After a few minutes, they called me for IE. That’s the first time for that pregnancy. I was really hoping I’m already near, about 5cm already. To my dismay, the baby is only 1-2cm. No matter how I refused to be in bed, I had no choice. They put me in bed and had me in dextrose. I’m glad though that this time, I had a happy dinner.
When I got inside the labor room, there is one expectant mother. She was screaming from time to time and I remember, that is how I was more than 3 years ago in the bed where she is. She didn’t join me that long, she was transferred to the delivery room later on.
The nurse checked my baby’s heart rate and when she’s done, she gave me the remote control of the television and a buzzer. I was alone in the labor room.
I’m already tired of watching TV. I wanted to sleep to save my energy but each time I try, I get disturbed.
I kept on talking to my baby when the pain is there. I told her to come down already but don’t give me too much pain. My pain tolerance is very low. She seemed to cooperate. By the time I pressed the buzzer for the second time and the nurse finally came out to check on me, I was already 7cm. She told me she’ll inform my doctor. A few minutes, I was transferred to the delivery room. Next thing I knew, my doctor is already there and he ordered the nurses to prepare me while we wait for my anesthesiologist.
I can hear their conversations. My hubby is outside to whom my doctor talks to from time to time. We waited a while for my anesthesiologist. My OB just finished rupturing my bag of water when the other doctor arrived. He put anesthesia in my dextrose and the labor pains go on.
By 2:30AM I heard my OB said I’m already fully dilated, the baby needs to come out. The all helped me in pushing her, well except for these two pediatricians who did nothing but touch my tummy. I glanced at the clock, 2:45AM. I kept on pushing while they all talked to me. Once I let out a cry, the anesthesiologist told me not too because I will have a hard time breathing. I followed and pushed some more. My OB said, kung sa ibang ospital ito, isi-CS na ito sa sobrang laki ng bata. I have a big baby inside and they cannot get her shoulders out. Then there’s the pain. The I heard my OB said, ayan na!.
I woke up to the loud voices of interns. It still irritates me when I relay my birthing story. When I was transferred to my room where my mom, hubby and my first born were, that’s the only time I learned what happened. I passed out after delivering our newest bundle of joy. She finally came out at 2:50AM with a heavy weight of 8.8lbs. I computed. That was only 5 hours of pain. No epidural. And this time, the baby is heavier for less than a pound than her Ate. Life is full of miracles!
