Recognizing A Stoke Attack

I got the information below from Beng as a forwarded email. Actually, I received similar emails several times already from the past and I still think that it is worth re-posting. If we’re informed, we will be able to save lives – that’s for sure.

Doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:

S – Ask the individual to SMILE.
T – Ask the person to TALK and SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE coherently. Example: It is sunny out today.
R – Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.

Now, there is a new sign of Stroke – ask the person to STICK OUT HIS/HER TONGUE. If the tongue is crooked, if it goes to one side or the other, that is also an indication of a stroke.

A cardiologist says if everyone who reads this sends it to 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved.

I have done my part. Will you?

Customizing the Newer and Older Post Footer Link

The other day, I was looking on ways how to customize the 0 comments label like the one below.

Silly me. I forgot that this can be done by going to Layout > Page Elements and click Edit found on the Blog Post section.

While searching for this, I found another trick which I used to customize my blog appearance. I modified the look of the Newer and Older links. These links are used to navigate between newer and older posts.

In the image above, I replaced three links with customized images. I created 3 different images for the Newer, Home and Older links, then I hosted these in an image hosting site like Photobucket.

Then in my blog, I went to Layout > Edit HTML to do the following:

  • Replace <data:newerPageTitle/> for Next Post with <img src=’YOUR-IMAGE-LINK‘/>
  • Replace <data:olderPageTitle/> for Older Post with <img src=’YOUR-IMAGE-LINK‘/>
  • Replace <data:homeMsg/> for Homepage with <img src=’YOUR-IMAGE-LINK‘/>

Make sure to Save your work and then view your blog to see your changes.

There are actually other ways to customize these post footer links. To know them, you may check out this post from Smart Bloggerz.

Creating a Poll using Outlook 2003

The other day, we were planning a surprise baby shower party for our teammate, Janelle. Since it was a surprise one, we cannot plan it on meetings, everything was coordinated and decided through emails and instant messages for two days. When we were deciding on the food, I wanted a poll, similar to what our different committees use during events. I know it is possible through email but I’m clueless. So I went to Mr. Google and asked.

Here is what I found.

  1. 1. Open a new message.
  2. In the toolbar section, look for Options… and click it.

A new dialogue box will open.

  3. Look for the Voting and Tracking options header.
  4. Tick the Use voting buttons: check box.

The default values are Approve;Reject. If you want a custom one, delete this, enter your choices separated by a semicolon (;).

You’re technically done at this point. But if you want to send your recipients’ replies to another mailbox, continue with the steps below.

  5. Look for the Delivery options header.
  6. Tick the Have replies sent to: check box.

Your name is the default value. Change this to the person or address where you want the replies to go. If you are unsure, you can click on Select Names… button and select the address from there.

  7. Click Close.

You should be back to your email body.

  8. Type your email message and when you are done, click Send.

There, you just sent a poll using Microsoft Outlook 2003.
