Eco-Waste Management Expo 2018

I was privileged to be invited to attend the 4TH ECO-WASTE MANAGEMENT SUMMIT held last January 25 – 27, 2018 at the ABS-CBN Vertis Tent, Quezon City. Waste management is something close to my heart and I was really glad I was there. Our family does our fair share in reducing, recycling and reusing but I know there are more that we can do and I learned quite a few during the summit.

This year’s theme was “Strengthening Cooperation And Partnerships On Ecological Solid Waste Management For The Present And Future Generations”. The event aims to further boost the DENR’s continuous efforts in enhancing public awareness and understanding of environmental issues and concerns, focusing on practical knowledge for effective solid waste management at source, which includes waste segregation, composting, and recycling. Because really, the government cannot do it alone. The public, the government and the private sector must work together so we can prevent our waste from outnumbering us – humans.

This government initiative enjoins a stronger partnership with all stake-holders, local governments, communities, private businesses, and the public. An increased awareness and commitment on effective waste management creates a future where citizens enjoy an unpolluted environment, sustainable, and secure from natural calamities. To achieve this, the summit presented an interactive program that aimed to inform, instruct, and inspire participants to take the lead towards a cleaner and greener world.
