Life is So Not Fair

That is what I was thinking of last Sunday night. Cliche as it is but during that time, it really struck me.

I woke up when the hubby arrived from work around 2AM of Saturday. The girls have rolled around the bed from their position when I put them to sleep. I am used to it already as it happens almost always. When I moved Alex, she was feverish! I panicked because she was all well before we slept and was active the whole day. I just had dengue and fever now makes me paranoid.

We have things to do the following morning and they cannot be put on hold. We picked up Christmas hams early in the morning and it was traffic already! We delivered the ham orders then by lunch time, we are home. We ate then fixed ourselves because we are visiting to the site like what we usually do on Saturdays. Alex was already fever-free that morning and she refused to be left behind when we picked up the hams so I allowed her to go with us. Come that lunch time, she was feverish again. She does not want to eat and keeps on complaining about her throat. I remembered that after eating dinner the previous night, she ate two slices of brownies that I brought home from the mall. She could have a budding tonsillitis. Still, until I find out what is really wrong with her, I will not have a peace of mind. We left her when we visited the site. To cut the long story short, she was still feverish that night when we came home. So we went to the hospital despite the horrible traffic we had just been through. Maxyn was very cooperative when I told her she has to be left behind.

On our way to the hospital, we saw people having their Christmas parties. That is when it struck me. They are partying while us, we have a sickly kid and we are bringing her to the hospital. Somewhere in the south, our relatives are still mourning for their loss. Somewhere out there, there are families have nowhere to sleep because they were affected by calamities. Somewhere out there, someone is hungry. I could go on with life’s irony but that’s just it. After I have enumerated my observations, LIFE GOES ON. Despite all the undue things that happen around us.

Thankfully, Alex got better come Sunday. She went to school yesterday. Today is their sports fest. Tomorrow, she will be able to party with her friends and classmates.

Somewhere out there, someone is also rambling about how unfair life is. But I think what is important is, we continue to face the day with hope and trust in God that in his perfect time, everything will be better.

Using the Best Microphone

I have to admit I am a frustrated singer. Although I can carry a tune, I do not have a voice that can be considered as “professional singer material”. But with some serious vocal coaching, I think I can be one. Naks! I get to practice a lot though because we have a karaoke machine and I sing whenever time permits and as a way to de-stress. I have been using the same microphone for years now and I really want a new one. I hope I can buy a mic with more features, something that can perform much like the best sm57 instrument microphone.

Gifts for the Holidays

I have been busy these past few weeks buying gifts for my family and friends. I spent time choosing gifts for each one of them because I want it to be memorable and something that they would be really happy to receive. I had quite a hard time picking a gift for my favorite uncle who has just about everything in life. Since he smokes a lot and probably has smoked every brand there is, be it cheap or expensive, I decided to give him djarum black cigarettes. It is a kretek or clove cigarette rolled in black paper. It is made from natural Indonesian tobacco and is sold all over the world. I am sure he will totally love it.
