Tips in Buying Maternity Wear

During pregnancy, your stomach will expand past its usual size. When this happens, you will need to purchase maternity clothes. While some women may not need maternity clothes until they are several months along, others are not so lucky. No matter how far along you are, consider the following tips to get more bang for your buck.

To shop for maternity clothes, consider your pre-pregnancy size. Purchase maternity clothes that are about the same size. Remember, maternity clothing will only give you extra space were needed. In most cases, this is in the stomach as well as the bust area. However, if you are having twins, consider going up a size or two. Next, look for clothing that is made from stretchable fabric. Spandex and cotton jersey are good fabrics to look at. Buy separates that are easy to mix and match. Not only will this save you money, but you can match the items to make several different outfits. When shopping for bras, only purchase one at a time. During pregnancy, your bra size will go up several times. Avoid buying nursing bras until the last month of your pregnancy. Whenever purchasing maternity clothes is not an option, you can always wear plus-size clothing.
