Ugh! It has been almost a week of no classes! Monday was a holiday. Tuesday, classes got suspended due to very heavy rains brought by the monsoon. Wednesday was again a holiday. I waited for class suspension announcement last night and saw none, only an announcement that classes will resume today. We woke up early only to find out that classes were once again suspended! Not that my student is bored. She is having a grand time watching Disney and NickJr. That’s all she does. She refuses to read or practice writing. Spending quite some time in front of the television, based on studies, is not good for children as it affects their behavior and attention span. I am seeing its effect already actually as she tends to act up, specially when sleepy.
Ayayay! I really hope tomorrow, classes will resume, even if it is already a Friday, just to break the habit.

Yup, children tend to lose the “groove” just like we do when there’s a long break. Our girls have been watching TV quite a lot since the rains came in. We try to “wean” them through games, play, art, and activity books. We have a stock of activity books here at home – some are given by relatives, some I got from the bookstores. I like to stock up on these things (even board games) so the girls can have learning activities during long weekends or extended breaks. Yesterday we were at Booksale and got Candice a huge book on arts and crafts. Hopefully, it keeps her busy in the next 2 days + the Charlotte’s Web book that she’s been reading at bedtime. Stella keeps herself busy with doodling, cutting paper, and Play-Doh.
Give my love and hugs to Ayex and Max!

I miss going to booksale. We have stocks of activity books too but Alex doesn’t want to tinker with them, she just wanted to watch TV. 🙁 Max, on the other hand, keeps on running around the house and bugging people. I guess, I should give her something to focus her energy on.
