Last weekend, I went out of town with my college girlfriends. We went to this resort in Tagaytay (the review I have yet to post). We used the vouchers I bought last year, as my Christmas gift for them but unfortunately, not all of us made it. Anyway, I had good laughs and it was a day-off well spent. The travel back home was tiring though.
I have one great takeaway from that trip. We were lazing around in the evening after dinner. I have not seen them for more than a year so I was really catching up. We talked about a lot of things: brazilian waxing, cavitation and radio frequency treatments, make-up tips and tricks, skin care products that works (including their best anti wrinkle cream), love life, family stuff, future plans and a lot more. Apart from talking non-stop, we also took a lot of pictures. And in the process, I realized that I lost my angle.
You see, I used to be really vain when I was younger. When I am bored while I was in my on-the-job training, I would go to the single restroom in our office and there I would take photos of myself. Silly me, I know. I know exactly my angle and even my smile. Now, I feel like I always look old in my photos. Well, for one I think my current hair style can be blamed. Maybe my lack of social life is another. And lastly, the lack of facial skin care regimen shows in the pictures.
Yeah, yeah. My facial skin care regimen is on and off. Ok, I should not call it a regimen yet. But the photos sort of alarmed me. I am still in my twenties and yet I feel like I look like I am already in my thirties! I almost panicked when I saw crows feet on my eyes! So I am saying that NOW is the TIME. I vow that I will seriously take care of my face and my skin everywhere. I do not like seeing photos where I look older than my age. Who likes that anyway?
The hunt is on. What products do you use, care to share?
Pinay Mama says
Waaa! I am not using anything. π I am lazy to put creams or anything in my skin. I only feel old when I see things negatively. So to keep myself from feeling young and pretty, i have to stay positive.

Awww… I feel you sis… I think we share the same sentiments. I think the only skin-care related thing that I do everyday is to wash my face and take a bath. I only do the whole moisturize – makeup, etc. routine when I go to blog events which is very rare. I have to start doing things right though…

I just gave birth on my 3rd baby last month. And I felt I needed a break.. I’m really not that vain but I’ve always stared at those beautification vouchers i see online.. Good thing my husband understood my needs so he brought me to H2O hotel for a vacation and had spa together =) (I wanted to have my hair curled as well… maybe next time)
Just to let you know how sweet my husband is please take a look at this post =)

I’m also not too fond of taking photos of myself anymore unlike before. But I have a different reason naman.. ^^ Anyway, for the face, I personally use Olay’s cleansers then follow it up with a Lemon soap. I just use the cleanser to take off all my make up but it’s the Lemon soap that works for me like magic. It can really dry pimples in a matter of days (2 to 3). And even if I sleep super late almost every day, I don’t have breakouts na unlike before. It made my skin tighter din.
Anyway sis, I dunno if you’ll be hiyang with the Lemon soap. But one thing’s for sure, drink lots of water and have enough rest. It’ll do wonders to your skin.. π

let’s vow to greatness, let’s get rid of those ugly skin, renew our skin now, i wish i can do the same.

Currently, I am using Clearasil scrub for daily cleansing.
Oil of Olaz for day cream and night cream.
I do once a week mudpack (I forgot what the name of the product I used because I often change).
But I can get lazy! I’m turning 40 next week, and I need to see that my discipline on facial care improves.
Thanks for this post, it serves as a reminder.

i do not have those so-called beauty regimens either + when i look at my face in the mirror {which is rarely since I am always busy doing something else around the house}, i can see a few crow’s feet on my eyes, too, result of too much squinting + going out without my sunglasses…i would most probably try to moisturize my face, since i only use human heart nature facial wash to keep it clean…

I really dont have a beauty regimen. But I make sure that I have that ME time to reward myself – spa and derma are just two of my simple ME Pleasures.
Donna Jane Marcuap says
Goodluck Ms. Nicquee π I’m also going to do it NOW before it’s too late π

A lot of young girls believe almost everything as what every ads had promised. We keep forgetting to go back to the very basics. Getting enough sleep, avoiding alcohol and smoking as much as possible , eating veggies, fruits and drinking lots of water.
Would it be nice to hear if somebody noticed and tell you” you seem to be getting younger everyday,” when in fact you age by the number every year?
We can try all the popular products in the market and found out we still look the same. Perhaps, it is about time to ponder what real beauty is which should not be limited in looking ourselves in the mirror often but acknowledging our inner beauty which lasts more.
You are a beautiful person. You just have to accept that as you age.

i like Garnier products. not too expensive and yet very effective

post photos from the trip soonest! I wanna see the place .< I need to consult my derma soonest π

I only use ponds before when i was in Pinas but now I use dove soap…

I’m 20 as well and at times, I can see that my skin’s dehydrated. I have to agree that moisturizing is the key. I use Pond’s Flawless White creams every morning, Olay Moisturizing Lotion every night, and Clinique’s Eye Cream. I don’t use them religiously though (except for the eye cream) because I love testing out new products from time to time. π
I suddenly miss Tagaytay. π
bev says
Eat healthy food sis perhaps that’s the inexpensive beauty regimen which is good for the skin. Also moisturizing will help. I use olay moisturizer.
Yami says
I only use Pond’s anti-bacterial facial scrub to cleanse my face everyday. π
Donna Jane Marcuap says
Hmm, is it effective? if it is I wanna try too π
Mye says
Moisturize girl! It’s one of the key. I used to not believe in that until I’ve proven it myself. Am not really pretty but at least I am not as dry looking as before.
I use Olay now since I can no longer afford to go to my derma every week. How i missed those days LOL!
Nicquee says
You are pretty!
Yeah, dryness is what prompted me to moisturize.
Whatspecific Olay products are you using?
Olga says
I’m very prone to skin rashes and discoloration and most beauty products don’t work well on my skin. Neutrogena Hydroboost Gel and Mousse Cleanser are my current best friends since I don’t have much time to spare for a beauty regimen. I use both twice a day and it takes less than three minutes to do both.

i just wanna share a very simpLe beauty home remedy…
(whenever i use egg for frying) i apply to my face the traces of egg yolks,
left in the egg sheLL. they say, it serves as an instant face lift.
& i must say, it’s kinda effective for me. wanna give it a try? π
Nicquee says
Do you apply it to your whole face? My sister showed this trick to me but only for her nose. She put a little of that sticky egg white on her nose, put a little tissue in it and left it for a few minutes until it dried.
How do you do it?
ruth says
hi nicquee! i stand corrected, it’s egg white not egg yolk. i just put those traces of egg white to my whole face & let it dry for a couple of minutes & then afterwards, i rinse my face with water & soap, then that’s it ^_^
ruth says
oh & i even forgot to mention, once in a while try incorporating some drops of kalamansi with some egg white. this mixture acts as a facial cleanser & face lift at the same time. same procedure as above, after applying it to your face, let it dry then rinse after, then you’re good to go ^__^

I’d like to be in my 20s again haha! I’m obsessed with skin care though.
Nicquee says
When I read on this topic, I notice the many products people use. In your case, how many products do you use at night and can you please share to me how it goes (which comes first then next and so on?
Thanks in advance!
Rowena Wendy Lei says
Day: Cleanser, Eye Cream, Essence (Serum)/Emulsion(Moisturizer), BB Cream with SPF or Sunscreen
Night: Cleanser, Eye Cream, Anti-aging Serum, Night Cream
Once a Week: Mask
I skip the toner since my skin is dry.
Malou says
No one wants to look older than their age. I’m already in my mid 30’s and I follow my skin care regimen to a T. I use Pond’s Gold Radiance day cream and serum and Garnier cream at night. I also use Garnier eye roll-on during the day and before I go to sleep.
Sleeplessgal says
Olay helps π My aunts make use of it π . All of us will aged but it doesn’t mean we must look old too π I think of that way too.
arcee says
i can very much relate to this and i am fighting ageing double-time due to my goiter problem which caused my skin to age earlier than it should be…beauty products i use: st. Ive’s moisturizer, neutrogena’s sunscreen of SPF50 and a home-made toner which i just researched on the web (apple cider vinegar with water). I want it cheap and organic except for the moisturizer & sunscreen:).
Mommy Pehpot says
I don’t have any facial regimen.. my face’s naturally oily so I can’t use a lot of moisturizer.. thank goodness for my pills, my face’s pimple free π
gracy says
Olay is a good moisturizer you could apply in the evening. Just make sure that it is water-based. Another tip would be, try eating foods rich in vitamin A. It’s good for the skin. This one is way better than the first one. You can do both to get the best result. π
Nicquee says
I had to Google what those vitamin A rich foods because I simply eat what they cook here. LOL. I am glad what we have gives me that vitamins. ;p
I am using Neutrogena facial wash. I apply Celeteque moisturizer after bathing and Ponds Age Miracle cream before bed time. What can you say on my face since you saw me recently?
Pink MagaLine says
Hi sis! I am using Pond’s facial foam for washing, Pond’s pearl cream for dark spots, Olay Total Effects as moisturizer 7 in 1, and Nivea cream for the neck area. Simple lang. Hehe!
Kat says
We’re total opposites, I have never been, and don’t think that I will ever be vain. I just don’t have the patience for a regimen, creams, toners, etc. Sometimes though I do think that because of my previous exposure to the sun when I was a kid, maybe I should make up for it now before the results of neglect manifest themselves. Oh well, we’ll see. Maybe this too is my NOW time?
Glad to know you had fun with your friends at Tagaytay! You really do deserve some day-off too, ya know? π
Sammy says
Well I don’t have any beauty regimen now, and I can totally relate to the “feeling old” bit. I don’t even like to have my pictures taken these days as I feel so old, fat and ugly. A far cry from what I used to look when I was still “single”. The only beauty regimen that sticks with me is the part where I have to wash my face every single day, and use a blackheads remover every 2 weeks or so. Or whenever I’m not too tired to actually do it. LOL.
Mitchteryosa says
I am not a beauty expert but I just thought you would like to try Mary Kay products. They are expensive but believe me they last longer than the cheaper ones in the market.
Donna Jane says
Mary Kaye products? hmm. will try too. I also need to apply things in my face, I’ve got oily whenever heat was too much .
