I think that is one talent that I have. When I need things but they are lacking, I improvise.
Once my daughter needs a cardboard for a school project. We do not have time to buy anymore. I remembered the cake boxes I kept and that is what my daughter used. She was happy to be able to recycle things.
A few days ago, there was something I need that is placed at the top of our cabinet. Usually, I would call my husband for help. However, that time, he just left for work. So I took one of our dining chairs and used it as a step stool. I successfully got the box I needed at the top of the cabinet. Now, my daughter no longer asks for my help to get her milk at the top of the microwave. Instead, she gets her small chair and steps on it.
I think improvising is a result of not having everything available. Because we did not have everything in life, we learned to make use of what is available and I will make sure to teach this to my children also.
