This is my first time to claim an SSS sickness benefit. I was inspired to file a claim for my infected eczema after reading Mommy Joy’s post about voluntary member’s benefits. All I can say is it is a bit tedious and that is probably why many, even if they are fully aware of this benefit, decide not to claim it anymore.
I had to go back to the SSS office three times for this claim. The first I did not know that physical examination by their own nurses/doctors is only done fro 8 AM to 12 NN. I went there after lunch. I went back the following day in the morning. I was examined but was asked to go back again because the recent premium payments I made were not yet posted and they asked another report from the doctor who saw me. The third one is today when I had to submit the claim, which also took the longest!
To avoid hassles just like what I had gone through, here are some tips.
- Stock up on SSS forms. If they only give you one, you can photocopy it. Always bring it with you when you go to the doctor.
- Be sure to fill-up the correct forms. I filled up an incorrect one, good thing they accepted it and just stapled with the other papers.
- If you are a voluntary member, I suggest you make sure all your contributions are already posted in your account. You can check this online.
- Be patient but know when you should ask what happened to your paper. The desk where I was suppose to go is unmanned and I was waiting for about 10 minutes already. When I saw the SSS staff I saw before, I asked her what number she is already serving. That is the only time she called the numbers. Then she took my paper, told me to sit down and wait for my name to be called. That waiting time took me another more or less 30 minutes. I was starting to be impatient because I have the girls waiting for me. I asked what happened to my paper. To my dismay, I can see from afar that it looks like they forgot about it! The nurse finally called me and gave me a small piece of paper, the claiming stub. That took me about 3 minutes.
Hopefully in 60 working days this hassle will be worth it.
Mam ask ko lang sana kung pwedy pa ba maka apply ng sss sickness benefit kung nov.2022 ang nakuha ko tapos ngayong Jan. 2023 nagkasakit ukit ako, pwedy ko pa ba ma applyan ng sss sickness benefits?
Hi! Both of my parents po were out of work for almost a month because of Covid. They are employees in a private hospital. May nagtext na po na galing sa SSS na approved na daw po yung sickness notification nila. Kindly advise employer to submit reimbursement online daw po. Pero the hospital told them to search at sss.gov.ph yung list kung saan yung list of approved SS Notifications makikita at i-screenshot daw. My parents, being new to this, let me do it pero hindi ko po talaga mahanap. Sana po ay matulungan niyo ako.
Na approved na po sa sss yung sickness benifts ko , nasa online bank na daw po ? Ask ko lang sana if matagal ba talaga bago ma approved sa online bank to employer ?

actually matagal na itong experience ko. That time, cheque ko pa nakuha. Pero ngayon ata sa bank na napasok kaya sila humihingi ng bank details.

Hello. Last time po parang hindi na naka tseke eh kaya sila nahingi ng active account number. Matagal po talaga sya. I think yung akin inabot ng 3 months or so po. Sana makuha niyo na po agad ang benefit niyo.

Submit a fully accomplished sickness notification form. Nakukuha po yan sa HR bg company or hingi kayo sa SSS. Fill-upan nyo po at ng attending physician ng asawa ninyo. Saka lahat po ng result ng labs at procedures na ginawa. ORIGINAL PO LAHAT.
If working: ORIGINAL SSS notif form + ORIGINAL labs and procedures results + PHOTOCOPY ng 2 VALID GOV’T IDs. With 3 specimen signatures. Each.

Are you a voluntary member po ba? When I was hospitalized, ang dami nilang hiningi sa akin eh. If you are voluntary, you might be asked to go back again para i examine ng doctor nila. If you are employed naman po, you bed rest should be covered by your sick leaves.

Hi! I just want to know if companies which are supposed to advance sickness benefits can postpone or even withhold the check due me? I was informed by my supervisor that it is being held because of attendance issues. Is there a law that I can use to complain against such practice?

I hope magaling na po kayo. For your concern, it is best po to consult with your nearest SSS branch. From what I know po kasi, dapat continuous na 6 months yung huling contribution po ninyo. I may be wrong po so please do consult sa nearest SSS office.

Si company po ba ang nagbabayad ng sss niya or siya mismo? Either way, I think she should be able to file sickness claim basta meron xang active contribution for the last 6 months (i think). For complete requirements for the filing, please see the nearest sss office po. I hope makatulong.

Tanong ko lang po if 3 months is normal para maghintay ng checque for SSS Sick Leave? Ksi nagfile pa ako last Nov 17, 2016 then binalik SSS Sick leave form ko dahil need ko daw mag fill up for SSS E4 form. So natapos ko na po mag fill up then attached with my Original NSO. Nireceived naman po nila yung SSS Sick Leaave form ko then binalik sakin is yung photocopy nalang NSO ko.. Up until now patapos na ang February wala pa rin ako narereceived na checque. Sabi nman ng employer ko approved nman kasi complete requirements naman ako at hindi nman din late filing. Sana po dumating na, kasi napakatagal na po nun at sayang din nagastos ko sa medication. Alam ko po dapat buo yung latest 6 months ninyo. Tapos yung condition niyo po, dapat pasok dun sa criteria ng SSS. Pero I am 99% sure po na may makukuha kayo. Dapat meron po. I apologize for the delayed response. First, do you have sick leaves or none? Kung meron pa, no need to file SSS Sickness Claim. Kasi from what I understand, paid ang sick leaves. Kung wala naman, filing will be course through your HR, so you still get compensated for the days you are unable to work care off SSS.

My experience po is based on being a voluntary member. I do not have personal experience in filing a sickness claim while employed. Sa tingin ko po, kung employed, dapat ang filing is through the employer, since the contribution is also coursed through them. P

Yung experience ko po ay based sa pagiging voluntary member. Hindi po ako naka experience mag file ng SSS sickness claim while employed so wala po akong experience na ma ishare. You can ask po your HR about your concern. Praying na sana makuha niyo na po ang salary ninyo.

So 14 days kang wala sa office. Na-cover ba yun ng sick leaves mo from your company? If yes, I dont think pwede ka pa mag file sa SSS. Kasi having approved SLs, means you are already paid by the company.
Wala kang SL. You should course your SSS sickness claims through your company bilang sila ang nagkakaltas at nagbabayad ng SSS contributions mo. I dont think you are allowed to file the sickness claim personally kung employed ka.
Yung makukuha mo sa SSS sickness claim mo ay hindi dapat kaltasin sa sahod mo dahil yun ang bayad para sa mga araw na hindi ka nagtrabaho, given na hindi ka pa binayaran ng kumpanya (paid sick leaves). Ang sickness claim ay benefit ng SSS members. Totally different ito sa isang loan (which we need to repay).

From what I understand, yung sickness claims sa SSS, magagamit mo lang yun kung:
1. employed ka, ubos na lang sick leaves mo. Yun ang lalabas na compensation mo from the days na absent ka without pay.
2. unemployed ka, voluntary member ka ng sss at updated ang payments mo. Makakapag file ka ng sickness claims because that is part of your sss benefits. Still, that is subject for approval ng SSS authorities.

If you are connected to a company, wala pong ibang choice kundi mag file through your company. If you are a voluntary SSS member, you can file personally or through a representative. I hope this helps.

Kailangan niyo po ng medical records. Hindi ko na po masyado rin maalala ang requirements kasi may katagalan na rin yung application ko. You can visit po the nearest SSS branch sayo for the complete list of requirements. Please ask ang schedule ng doctor nila kasi titignan ka pa rin ng doctor nila kahit may medical records ka na para di sayang oras mo.

Hi! I personally filed mine. Other people I know filed theirs personally as well. I think you are given a specific time frame when you can file. I e-examine ka rin kasi ng doctor ng sss. Maybe you can ask your one of your family members to inquire for you in the nearest SSS branch. 🙂

Unfortunately, I don’t think there is no way to do that. All I can see in my online account is the eligibility and needed documents for filing. The best way to follow up I think is to visit the branch where you filed it. I hope this helps.

Hi! Mejo matagal po talaga ang release ng cheque. I am not sure kung saan i mail ng SSS. Ako kasi resigned na ako when I filed a claim so talagang sa home address ko nasend ang cheque ko. I strongly suggest na tawag-tawagan po ninyo yung branch where your claim was filed.
you need to follow it up with your last employer..kasi binabalik ng sss yung documents once they checked na resigned na yung member.. you have to file an individual sss sickness reimbursement.. thats what happend to me..kaya na pending din ng matagal

I think entitled ka pa rin sa sickness benefit. My sister was in bed-rest many times in her pregnancy. Naubos ang leaves niya. I think nag file sya sa SSS to claim sickness benefit. On process pa ata though. I hope all goes well on your pregnancy. I strongly suggest pa rin to go to the nearest SSS office for official advice. I hope nakatulong ako kahit konti.

Congrats on your cheque. Honestly, wala akong idea kung ilang cheque as in my case, I only filed once and only got one cheque. I am not in any way connected to any SSS office so I cannot give you any other answer. You can probably ask in the branch where you filed for clarification. 🙂

I got my cheque from the mail. Diniliver lang from what I can remember. Just be patient. It will help if you call the branch from time to time.

I received my check after about a month from the filing date and it was mailed to me. If I remember it correctly, I got a registered mail from the post and picked up the check from the post office.
