Where Should I Put My Baking Pan Inside the Oven?

Today I learned something new.

The hubby gifted me with a Kyowa 35L Electric Oven last Christmas. Grabe almost a year na ang oven namin at di ko pa xa napo-post dito!!!! Anyway, we have used the oven many times already, mostly for baking. We have tried cooking American ribs in it a few weeks ago and it was a huge success!!

Anyway. So today, I learned that what I have been doing is wrong. You see, every time I bake, cupcakes, cookies, cakes, brownies, I always put my baking pan on the black pan that came along with my oven. I put it on the middle section yes, but when I bake cupcakes, the cupcake pan does not fit well on the black pan. Gets? Lagpas yung cupcake pan sa black pan so yung cupcakes near the oven window, sort of elevated sila. Instead of using that black pan, you should use the wire rack. Baking pans on the wire rack on the middle section of the oven, that is how it should look like. The black pan is used to catch drippings when you use your oven to roast something.

Well, at least I know now and I have time to correct my wrong practice. 🙂

      Hi Mam Cecil,

Thank you for your comment. We love cooking crispy liempo with our KYOWA. And I believe we were also able to bake basic chocolate cupcakes and NY Cheesecake with it. I sold it eventually because the husband bought a bigger one. I haven’t posted much about baking yet but it’s coming. Hope you can visit again soon. Happy cooking po!

    Hi Nicquee,

Good evening! My kyowa 3310 35L heat selector has an option “none”. Do you know how does this work considering the heat temp i set on the oven?

    Thank you.

Hi Nicquee, so glad i found your blog. So, I need to put the black pan pala at the bottom, I was doing it all wrong. I read naman the manual but I dont think it was stated there. Kyowa should have a better manual. Mabuti at may mommy tips sa net, just like yours, thank you.

This January ko lang nabili ang Kyowa ko 35L (but not convection) and ask ko lang, when baking, do i have to heat up both the upper and bottom part of the oven? I usually just turn on the bottom heat only. Am I doing it wrong? Three times pa lang ako nag-bake using it, and burnt ang ilalim (Now i know part of the reason is the black pan). I hope to hear from you, thanks very much in advance! God bless you!

    Arlene 🙂

      Hi Mam Arlene,

I usually use both top and bottom heat po.

You should use po an oven thermometer inside the oven.

      Hi Nyx,

I’m sorry to hear about your cookies. I am using ecko. Based on my experience sis, always low temp lang ako, 150C. Unless ang niluluto ko ay meat or I want the top part cracked, or kelangan mabilisan ang luto, dun lang ako nagtataas ng temperature.

Try uli sis, wag kang malungkot. Kaya mo yan! Happy baking sa iyo.

      Hi Mam Kristine,

      from aol.com po

Unlike conventional ovens, which cook food by surrounding it with hot air, convection ovens circulate the air. Convection ovens are built with a fan placed in the back of the oven. When you turn on the convection setting, the fan blows warm air all around the inside of the oven, promoting rapid and even heating. The hot air in conventional ovens just hangs around and sometimes leads to uneven results.

I started with a KYOWA convection oven. I hope this helps po. Good luck po sa small business ninyo and God bless!

      Hi Mam Joanna,

Happy New Year. Sorry for the OA late reply. Yung oven ko po kasi convection. So kahit konti lang ang ibe bake ko, laging up and down with fan ang gamit ko. Nakasanayan ko na po. Wala namang difference sa kunsumo ng kuryente. Plus, it ensures na luto ang food ko, in and out. I hope this helps po.

      Hi Mam Bernadette,

I’ve tried Kyowa po na 3-in-1. It is a good brand for me to start with. I think same lang sila ng Imarflex. If you are buying in cash, scout in Quiapo area kung feasible, a lot cheaper than malls. 🙂

      Happy baking/cooking po!

      Hi Windee,

Congratulations to your new oven! I think pwede naman po. Although it is advisable na sa middle rack lagi magluto for even cooking. Ako, when I fill the oven, I change the positions of the trays middle of baking time. You can check Kyowa kung nagtitinda sila ng spare rack. Dapat pwede. Or pwede mo sukatin ang oven and you should find a suitable tray from the trusty baking stores. 🙂

      Happy baking!!

          Hi Windeelyn,

I usually bake at 150C only, even if the recipe calls for a higher temperature (usually 175C or 180C). Mas ok sakin ang slow bake. 🙂

Hi sis. Sorry if ako sasagot s question mo ha.

      Hi Mae,

Im so sorry for my late response. Do you have an oven thermometer? If none, I strongly suggest you get one. Minsan kasi, iba ang init ng loob ng oven natin compared to the knob. Minsan kahit 150C lang ang setting, the real temp may be higher or lower. I always bake at 150C. And I check on the cake/cupcake in the middle of baking time. Kung sabi ay bake for 30 mins, by the 15 minute mark, i check ko ang oven.

Doming and cracking are usually caused by high temp of the oven.
